Say Good to Cigarette Smoke

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post.

For a parent addicted to cigarettes, there are many anxieties connected with the habit.  Not only do you not want to subject your children to a smoky environment (a smelly house, clothes, or car), but you don’t want to set a bad example for them by always having cigarettes around the house. One of the strangely easy-to-overlook downsides to smoking is how much it costs. Depending on where you live, you might be spending as much on cigarettes over the course of a year as you spend on school supplies, or Christmas presents, or even family vacations. By switching your nicotine delivery system from traditional cigarettes to a rechargeable electronic cigarette kit (like those available from 21st Century Smoke), you can have both a more discreet, cleaner nicotine experience, and save a lot of money. Let’s look at the details.

Cost of cigarettes: No matter where you go, taxes on cigarettes are going to be severe. Being both a public health concern and an ostensible luxury item, both state and the federal government place a premium on taxing their consumption. In the US, the average price, after taxes, for a pack of cigarettes is six dollars. For a pack-a-day smoker, that comes out to over two-thousand dollars a year. If you’re unfortunate enough to live somewhere like New York, you might pay as much as fourteen dollars a pack, a whopping yearly cost of over five-thousand dollars.

Cost of E-cigs: By comparison, a pack-a-day smoker could invest in a year’s worth of e cigarette cartridges refills and batteries, and expect to pay about six hundred dollars. Puff-for-puff, that’s the same amount of use as a pack a day, and a minimum savings of over a thousand dollars a year. The higher up the tax spectrum you go (depending on where you live), you might save as much as four thousand five hundred dollars, and immense savings in any economic climate.

The financial benefits for making the switch away from traditional tobacco products are obvious and immediate. If you’re still smoking traditional cigarettes, consider making the change to E-cigs. Your wallet will thank you.

  • My ex smoke throughout the duration of our 2 1/2 year relationship and once that ended I swore to myself I'd NEVER date another smoker. It's a nasty, dangerous habit!
