Technology changes, and there is no better example than with home security. In the past, a home security system meant you needed a lot of hardware installed in your home, but today, wireless technology has been integrated with home security. These new wireless alarm systems have many advantages over the traditional systems. The following are five of these advantages.
It is not an eyesore for your home
A wireless security system blends into the interior and exterior of your home and it is hardly noticeable; most people don’t notice any security system at all. A wireless system doesn’t require wiring for electrical signals that a traditional system does, and most of the wiring for power is reduced greatly. A traditional security system will need wiring for power throughout the entire system. In some circumstances, electrical conduit will be needed for power. Drilling holes and attaching devices with screws and mounting brackets has also become a thing of the past. Even the size of the wireless devices used to detect intruders has shrunk in size relative to the devices used in the past.
More options in device placement
The devices used in a wireless system are lighter and smaller, so there is a greater range of choices in where to place each device. Because traditional devices are larger and bulkier, it may not be practical to locate them in the best place possible. In addition, the wiring needed for each device may limit where it can be placed. With a wireless device, the question of how the wiring will be routed to the device is not an issue. It is only a matter of deciding exactly where the best place to put the device is, and then installing it there.
Faster to install
A traditional system can take a technician all day to install. After deciding how many devices are needed and where to put them, the installation of all of the hardware and wiring can take several hours. With a wireless system, it can take as little as a single hour. Installing the devices is quick and setting up the software is uncomplicated. Once a technician arrives at your home, your wireless security system will be up and running quickly.
Home security systems can be integrated
A traditional security system was usually designed to set off an alarm to alert a security company that their clients’ home or building was being broken into. They, in turn, would notify the police. A wireless security system, can integrate an intruder alarm with a fire alarm, so your security covers more with a single system.
A wireless system is portable
If you find yourself deciding to move, you can take everything with you and install it in your next home. A tradition system is installed in a more permanent way. If you decide to move out of your current home, you will probably have to leave your system for the next owner. This portability advantage makes it attractive to those who are renting a house or other type of property. A wireless security system is easily packed away and moved with all of your other possessions to your next residence and reinstalled.

I just upgraded from ADT to FrontPoint Security, and I couldn't be happier. FrontPoint's system is also wireless, and they have DIY options. For me at least, home security systems are more about piece of mind than anything.
That's certainly easier than the old models. Wireless is so much better.
I wish you would have listed the DOWN sides too.. like the PRICE... amongst other things but I DO like the point that it's NOT an eye sore.. anyone thinking of getting home security should seriously consider wireless.
