This journal is not simply a blank journal but rather has activities involving nature and mysteries that the user has to solve. It makes learning science fun, I admit I would like this journal just to learn from! The pen that it comes with is an invisible ink pen that appears under the included black light. You can use the pen on other paper or even items (including a banana!) I love that the pen can be used elsewhere so even after your child is done with the journal they still have the fun of the pen and blacklight. This would make a great gift for an 8+ year old girl and for just $17, it seems like a great value!
