Disney’s PLAYMATION Wearable Technology

I received the products below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Just in time for the holiday’s Disney has come out a new state-of-the-art toy that is sure to be a hit, especially with superhero fans!  Duracell, Toys“R”Us, Hasbro and Disney are actually teaming up to bring this amazing gaming/toy experience to life!

PLAYMATION is wearable technology that puts kids in the middle of superhero action. Kids team up with The Avengers to help them battle against Ultron’s armies.

My boys (ages 7 and 8) have seen the commercials for PLAYMATION and have asked repeatedly for it on their Christmas lists already. They were so excited to get it to check it out ahead of time.

So what exactly is PLAYMATION?

Honestly I wasn’t sure what it was at first. It looked like a toy a child wears on their wrist and then pretends to fight bad guys, but I couldn’t figure out how it could cost over $100.

This is what you get in the box:

Well it is a techie product that has kids up and moving as Iron Man. Kids (and adults, yes I have worn it) wear a device on their arm (it adjusts) and Jarvis guides them through missions. You get two Smart Figures that you use the Repulser Gear to assist in the missions. By defeating villians on the missions you unlock new upgrades and locations.

Kids need to actually block, dodge, sneak, run, jump and more while wearing their blaster. Players even feel like part of the battle as the Repulsor Gear vibrates with every blast and activates awesome light and sound effects!

My boys absolutely love Playmation. I wasn’t sure it would be a lasting toy for them as I thought the fun would wear off but they have been going strong with it for a week now. They wear the Repulser Gear while not only playing with the Smart Figures and completing missions but they wear it just while playing with their friends. The other night we got together with neighbors for a bonfire and the boys were all taking turns wearing the Repulser Gear while running around outside in the dark.  The lights and sounds are seriously realistic and nothing less than what you’d expect from Disney.

In addition to the gear, the Playmation Marvel Avengers Starter Pack comes with 4 locations and 25 missions built into the Repulser Gear (arm gear) so that players can jump right into the action! You do need 12 AA batteries though so make sure to have a bunch on hand! Also, keep in mind the set only comes with two Smart figures so your kid will want more eventually. Your kid will want to build a whole team of allies to battle Ultron’s team of villains.

Here is a quick video of it in action:
