LetterSchool Cursive Letters

Just the other day, my husband asked if our kids are learning cursive in school. I have a boy in second grade and third and honestly I had to think about it. I faintly remember my 3rd grader learning some cursive but it was just a very quick lesson on each letter. Now my 2nd grader is learning it but I feel like he brings home one letter worksheet a week and thats it. There is no homework or assignments written in cursive that need to be done.

While I know so much is done on computers nowadays, I feel it is still important to learn to write and read cursive writing. I made a joke to my husband the other day that our kids will be printing their names on important documents when their older since cursive handwriting hasn’t been a priority.

Well now there is an app where kids can learn and practice cursive at home. LetterSchool Cursive Letters is an app where kids can practice essential skills of handwriting by playing four exciting games games with letters and numbers.

Intro – discover the shape, name and sound of all the abc letters and numbers

Tap – learn where to start writing the letters and numbers and finish by tapping the dots

Trace – learn the letter trajectory by tracing it

Write – test your knowledge by writing the abc and numbers from memory

The app makes it fun for kids to do because of silly things like springs and chains move along the letters to start off and then kids get to freehand the letters and numbers. It teaches the correct technique for cursive and gives kids lots of practice on each one. Oh and did I mention the app is actually award winning and recommended by parents and teachers? Yep it is an app worth checking out.

As a parent, I really appreciate the time and effort that must have went into this app to make it that much more than other handwriting apps. It does cost money, but you do get what you pay for with this app. It just seems like it goes the extra step in this app but teaching cursive, words, letters and numbers. My kids ages 4 to 9 all enjoy this app and don’t mind when I ask them to practice their handwriting.
