Heading to Sydney this summer? Here are some events you shouldn’t miss!

Gearing up for your next summer destination in Sydney? Still considering where to go this summer? Well, you best decide soon before prices of airline tickets get sky-high and rent spaces go up!

Sydney’s summer calendar of events is packed with world-class performance including drama, dance, musicals, special art exhibitions, extravagant fashion shows as well as live music events justifying why renting spaces and even land for sale in Sydney is hot in the market today.

Upcoming Summer Events

Stretching till June, the 20th Biennale of Sydney will bring together the work and artistry of more than 80 local and international artists across seven venues in Australia’s biggest contemporary visual arts festival. The theme this year is ‘The future is already here – it’s just not evenly distributed’, and what’s best, the entire program is absolutely free to the public!

The MCA’s exhibition of British artist Grayson Perry’s craft will be on display until the start of May 2016. Perry was awarded the Turner Prize in 2003. His works are described to be reflective, humorous, and fun, and best bit about it is that this will be his first exhibit in the Southern Hemisphere – which makes it the more special.

From 27 of May to 18 of June, Vivid Sydney will transform the city and other areas into a wonderland of sculptures, amazing light fixtures and grand-scale projections for everyone to enjoy. It is a matchless annual event of light, music and ideas, introducing an outdoor ‘gallery’ of extraordinary lighting sculptures, and a cutting-edge contemporary music program.

And yes! It’s all FREE.

Other events in Sydney this Year

It doesn’t end there. If you love Sydney and wish to take part in more events and happening this year, then by all means, here are other major Sydney events coming your way this year:

Art and About Sydney (Sept. 18 – Oct. 11). While Sydney shines in any season, Art and About Sydney actually boost it by coloring the entire city. It’s a month of temporary public art and creativity where artist by profession and at heart can take part. Some Art & About favourites will remain, but visitors and locals can expect more art at every turn of Sydney comprising major projects, friendly exchanges, and thought-provoking exhibitions in unusual spaces throughout the city.

My Fair Lady. Now celebrating its 60th year, Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady will play at the iconic Sydney Opera House from August 2016. The play is directed by Dame Julie Andrews, this classic Opera Australia production tells the story of Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle and her transformation into a proper lady. The music score features classic songs, including I Could Have Danced All Night, On The Street Where You Live, and Wouldn’t It Be Lovely?

There you go! I bet you’re rearing to go to Sydney this summer, and possibly in the coming months with all the exciting and exuberant events that is happening this year. So better prepare yourself, and take the chance to go to Sydney with your family and friends.
