Enrolling your kids to a sport that they enjoy is hard to figure out at first. Often parents make the mistake of getting them to participate in something that they are more interested and not the kid. It might be your passion but is it theirs? I guess the only way to find out is to get them to join a few classes and see if they enjoy it. Then it all boils down to which sport to choose for them? So I began to have a browse on the net and came across Martial Tribes where I found lots of interesting fight styles. From there I looked at martial arts for kids and well, it happened to be one particular sport that is strongly recommended for kids. Before you make judgments, give me a chance to explain how this sport can make a huge impact on your little one and perhaps to you as a parent too.
All forms of martial arts, especially the more challenging ones like BJJ gi (Brazilian Ju Jitsu) are fun and could even be life-changing. Probably the most obvious reasons are that it can help get your kid fit, healthy and more active. However, this sport offers many other benefits, but when it comes to fitness, becoming a true martial artist means becoming a supremely fit person. The moves they practice can help them improve their balance and give them a good posture which is crucial as their bones are developing. As your kid is growing up in their youth, with a good fitness routine and a nutritionist diet in place, this will already guarantee that they will grow up stronger, healthier and happier.
Not many of us know the real benefits and quickly jump to assumptions of believing it to being a violent sport and teach kids to be aggressive. This is totally the opposite. Believe it or not martial arts actually teach only positive actions. These actions can then be implemented into everyday living giving the chance for your kid to have a better outlook on life with a positive attitude. Learning the way of martial arts can shape a child to be humble, and know how to respect others. It can even teach your kids valuable life lessons that can be brought to home and school.
Social skills will be highly improved as martial arts is all about interacting with one another. If you have a kid that is a bit shy and needs to come out of their shell more, then martial arts can certainly help. It has been proven that when shy kids learn martial arts, their interaction increases with other kids. It then transitions into school and teachers notice the social changes. Even naughty kids can be put in their place with the discipline skills that they will learn. They even have classes where parents can train with their kids, which have been getting great results as parents feel the bond strengthens with their kid.
Concentration and focus plays a big part in martial arts and this can be applied to school with their books and studying. This can even improve their performance in grades which I find remarkable. I don’t know why they haven’t started teaching martial arts in schools as part of their physical education, because there’s nothing but good and positive things that come out of this great sport.
