Start the Conversations. End the Stigma. #MindOurFuture

I partnered with Bring Change to Mind in exchange for sharing this information and my honest opinion.

Millions of people worldwide are affected everyday by various mental illnesses. Depression, eating disorders, schizophrenia and ADD are just some of the illnesses that affect men and women and even children. So many of these illnesses though inspire discrimination and stigmas.

Its easy to feel empathy towards illnesses we can see, but those illnesses that are ‘invisible’ don’t always receive the understanding and attention they deserve. A nonprofit organization called Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) was co-founded by Glenn Close to start the conversation and awareness of mental illnesses.

Through a partnership with Bring Change to Mind, they hope to inspire others to share their own story with mental illness, whether it be a personal or through a close relation on the BC2M website. By sharing your story, hopefully others will be inspired and can get the help they need or just feel better getting something off their chest. Maybe its about themselves or its about a close friend or family member, sharing can really make a difference.

Bring Change 2 Mind (BC2M) is a national non-profit organization established by Glenn Close in 2010 after her sister Jessie was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and her nephew Calen was diagnosed with Schizoaffectve Disorder. BC2M’s mission is to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness. Because science and evidence-based action are essential to achieving this mission, BC2M’s work is grounded in the latest research, evaluated for effectiveness, and shared with confidence. Additionally, BC2M acts as a portal to a broad coalition of organizations that provide mental health services, screening, information, support, and treatment. BC2M’s first PSA, directed by Ron Howard and filmed in New York’s Grand Central Station, has been seen by more than 800 million people.  As one of the leading voices in stigma reduction, BC2M has an active and growing community on its social media platforms and website.  BringChange2Mind.Org

Learning about the experiences of others can help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and give those who are suffering the courage to seek help.
