I don’t remember when it was but when I first watched Shimmer and Shine on Nickelodeon with my daughter, I knew it was going to be a new favorite. The show is an adorable cartoon that features a little girl named Leah who is friends with a pair of twin genie sisters named Shimmer and Shine from the whimsical world of Zaharamay Falls. The genies grant Leah 3 wishes every day but they often make mistakes where the girls work together to solve the problems. It is an adorable show of friendship, empowerment, self-believing and learning from your mistakes. The girls are strong and confident in their abilities.

This past week I received a giant package full of Shimmer and Shine goodies, which can be found at Target stores and on Target.com. Since I knew it was coming I let my 5 year old un-box it while I videotaped it because I knew she would be excited.

One thing that I love about shows is when they come out with toys and other items featuring the characters. Too often my kids fall in love with a show and I have no luck finding any merchandise starring those characters. Well Shimmer and Shine did not disappoint with the line of merchandise available at Target and luckily I received all those goodies in order to host my own Genie-rific Party!

What Shimmer and Shine Genie-rific products did I get?

  • Meet Shimmer & Shine! – This is a Step Into Reading Level 2 paperback book that is perfect kids ages 4-6 years old who are starting on their reading journey. It even comes with stickers!
  • The Sweetest Cupcake – This is a paperback book that is more of a book I would read to my daughter. She loves the pictures but the reading is over her head. It also comes with stickers!
  • A Tale of Two Genies – This is a big, hardcover Golden book that my daughter loves me to read to her while she enjoys the pictures.
• Shimmer and Shine DVD – This is a perfect DVD for watching Shimmer and Shine when its not on!

Everything was perfect for the four girls at my house to enjoy for some Shimmer and Shine fun. I put everything out and before I could open everything, they were already ripping it all open.

Once everything was opened, the girls took to brushing the girls hair, watching them dance and spin and color in the coloring books. I can’t say one product was their favorite as they played with them all.

The girls at our party had a blast coloring the pages. I even joined in and colored a page! I love that it’s available to download for free and can be printed over and over again!

Overall, our Genie-rific party was a blast and the girls played with the new toys for hours. We had a break with some sno cones and of course watched some Shimmer and Shine, the new DVD Shimmer and Shine Welcome to Zaharamay Falls is now available.
