“Kids are expensive” is something so often said amongst parents. Don’t get me wrong, kids can be expensive but there are definitely ways to cut corners without sacrificing quality for kids. From day to day costs to unexpected emergencies, costs can add up. Vacation can also add up quickly as your family grows. Just adding one more person to your family can make an impact and when you have a family of five you practically get bumped into the next room size typically in hotels.

Remind your kids each time they ask for a toy or treat how that money could be put in the vacation fund instead. This usually gets my kids as they are starting to understand that a nice vacation is better than a small plastic toy.
Do your research and set a realistic goal of what you need to save. Make sure to go over your budget with your family so they understand how much needs to be saved and even get ideas for how they can save!
Garage sale or thrift sale shop. Luckily my kids are not picky about what they wear and I can buy them anything. I am always amazed at the name brands I find at my local thrift stores too! I remind my kids here too that the more second-hand items I can buy the more money we have for other things.
