Getting Ready for Kindergarten With Zap Zap Math @zapzapmath

I partnered with this brand in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

One sign that pops into my head every summer is about “What Happens to Children During the Summer?” I point it out to my kids every year at the library and they act like they get it but I’m not sure they do.

So every year I vow to keep my kids learning throughout the summer, whether it be reading, math or just general workbook pages. A few weeks ago I shared about an app called Zap Zap Math that has been entertaining my boys (9 and 10 years old). I say “entertaining” because they love how it’s a game and don’t really realize they are learning!

Well now there is a Zap Zap app specifically for kindergartners! Well actually kids between the ages of 3 to 6 years old and perfect to start kids on their math journey! Zap Zap Kindergarten Math teaches kids through a series of fun math games using US Common Core methods.

Some key features of Zap Zap Kindergarten Math are:

  • Teaches Number Sense & Recognition, Plus & Minus and Shapes & Measurement
  • Kids level up by answering math questions to add to their score
  • Uses an adaptive learning feature so the level will always be just right for kids – not too hard or too easy
  • Teaches math skills and critical thinking skills
  • Math problems are narrated which is perfect for kids who can’t read yet
  • Rewards are interactive puzzle pieces that kids use to complete a puzzle
  • 100% Ad-free – so no worrying about kids clicking outside of the app

Areas of Math covered are:

  • Develop number sense
  • Count to 100 by ones and tens
  • Count forward and backward from a given number
  • Compare 2 numbers as greater than, less than, or equal to
  • Understand mathematical equality
  • Solve simple addition and subtraction equations up to 20
  • Fluently add and subtract within 5
  • Differentiate two objects in terms of physical attributes; e.g. size, height, etc.
  • Identify shapes as two-dimensional or three-dimensional
  • Compose larger shapes out of smaller shapes

My daughter will be starting First Grade in the Fall and she absolutely loves this app. I started the app off and she immediately came over and asked what I was doing. The colors and graphics are super kid-friendly and inviting. The puzzle pieces are a great reward and has made my daughter want to keep completing the levels to complete her puzzle.

I feel like they just started touching on some of these math areas in kindergarten and now she is really exploring them and more. I feel confident she will start First Grade on grade level (if not above level)! I wish I would have known about this app before she started kindergarten or even during but I’m glad we know about it now! I actually had to fight my daughter to put it away and go to bed! It is really that fun!
