6 Money Saving Tips on Shopping for Appliances

without breaking a sweat, you need functional appliances to make your life easy. Here are certain money saving tips on shopping for appliances.

Take Measurements Before Making a Purchase

Make sure you measure everything properly from doorways to the spaces where you want to place your appliances. People often forget taking appropriate measurements and end up buying an oversized appliance, which does not fit to the space perfectly. You don’t want to trigger your Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)! Even an undersized appliance placed in a large space looks very clumsy. Measure the distance between your counters to buy an appliance that fits best.

Shop for an Older Model

Manufacturers often release their appliances in a series. In most cases, the new product comes with very few modifications. Obviously, the newly launched products wear an expensive price tag, and its value is bound to depreciate within a year or two because a new model is in the queue. Instead of being tempted by the brand-new glitz of the product, be patient and buy the product cheaply when the new model is about to come. On the other hand, you can opt for an older model if the features are not considerably different from the new one. Better to look for brand’s promotional scheme and buy the product then.

Look out for Appliance Packages

Appliance packages come cheaper than buying each product individually. When you buy things in bulk, you may get discount on one of the products or better get one item free. How about getting an oven with the new Deep Freezer? Buying all appliances at once is recommended when you are completely renovating your house, giving away the old stuff and bringing the new in. So, make sure you keep an eye on these appliance packages and choose the one that fulfils your requirements.

Always Compare the Prices

It’s always wise to check price differences, and this will lead you to the best offer. Going shop to shop for buying a home appliance can get tiresome, so mostly people make their choice after visiting two to three shops. But the world is your oyster with internet shopping. Browse different online stores and look for the most competitive price.

Wait for Sales

Sales, discounts and giveaways are never to be missed. To get the best appliances in reasonable prices, you just have to be patient and wait for the sales to start. Look closely for such offers and sign up for them. You should also enter in giveaways and win appliance freebies without having to spend a dime.

Don’t Compromise on Quality for Low Prices

Always prefer quality over cheap prices. Low quality appliances will be a loss in the long run. Before you buy, make sure the manufacturer has a good refund policy and offers a warranty to ensure the safety of your money. Go through all the features of the product properly. Don’t overlook any dent or scratches. It is best to buy brand new electronic equipment instead of second-hand appliances just for the sake of saving money. The maintenance costs and repairs of used products will turn out to be your worst nightmare.

  • I have bought last years models for several appliances and been pleased with the price and reliability. It sure does pay to shop around and compare prices.

  • Often the model that's on display is just as good but lower priced. Also we make sure whichever place we buy it from offers free delivery.

  • Love your saving tips for buying appliances! I also like to buy an older model, because older models of some appliances, like washers and dryers, last longer because they are made heavy and last longer!

  • These are really good tips. I may be shopping for a stove pretty soon, and have been looking online. I want to get a real deal, this helps!

  • I always try to compare prices on anything I'm shopping for, but definitely on a large ticket item like an appliance. These are great tips!

  • Making sure to measure for appliances is so important to make sure they fit when they arrive. Also getting high quality appliances and paying a little more is so worth it.

  • We are looking for a new dishwasher now. I hadn't thought of shopping around for older models! Great tip!

  • This is timely for me, we are having trouble with our fridge. I am not sure yet whether it can be fixed or not. We used the first tip and looked at an older model and saved quite a bit, still $1,000 and only 7 years.
