Staying at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile Hotel @InterConChicago

I received a discounted room in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

A few weeks ago I decided I’d treat my family to a staycation downtown. The holidays get so busy and with my kids in their activities, I feel like we rarely get time together. I called my kids off of school so we could spend a full day downtown while the weather was still nice. We had a full weekend planned!

I had two things in mind when I was looking for a hotel for that night: close to Michigan Ave. and a pool. We had a day planned walking around shopping on Michigan Ave. and Water Tower Place as well as looking at the nearby Christmas lights. The hotel that came to mind was the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile as I had heard good things about their pool and they were located exactly where I wanted.

What we thought of the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile Hotel

Beautiful inside – The inside of this hotel is very fancy you could say. I think the Christmas decorations gave it that extra special touch as well. The hotel lobby was busy with people coming and going across the marble mosaic floors.

View from our room:

Lots of restaurant choices – In addition to room service, there is Michael Jordan’s Steak House & Bar, ENO bar, Starbucks and Center Court. We only tried Starbucks on our way out.

Beautiful 1920s pool – Finding a hotel with a pool in the heart of downtown is no easy feat but to find one with such a classic and stylish pool is impossible. The pool here seriously made my kids day and I loved marveling at the design and history behind it.

Fitness center – Next to the pool is a two room fitness center as well as a sauna.

The rooms are amazing – We stayed in a suite which my kids thought was super cool and there was plenty of room for my family of five to spread out. Usually I can care less about the room as we don’t spend a lot of time in the hotel room but we did plan on unwinding as a family and a spacious room was a luxury.

Parking on site – There is valet parking for $68 a night which is kinda expensive but convenient. I highly suggest checking SpotHero for other parking solutions as even at the hotel it saved me $7 off the valet price!

Airline information – In the lobby are screens with flight information as well as a way to print boarding passes.
