Do you know someone suffering kidney disease or desperately needing a kidney transplant? A staggering 1 in 10 people have kidney disease, an estimated 26 million Americans, and there is an extremely high need for organ donors. Currently, there are approximately 120,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the U.S., and of these, approximately 100,000 need a kidney transplant. Claudia Sanchez, a kidney and pancreas recipient: shares her story:
Just in time for March National Kidney Disease Prevention Month and April National Donate Life Month, the Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation has created the “Get the Facts! Get Checked! Get Healthy!” PSA which helps the public learn more about kidney disease prevention and the need for organ donation.
MNITF is a public non-profit organization that adheres to its mission of advancing the science and practice of organ transplantation and end-stage organ disease therapies through research, education, and innovation. You can find out more at FixingPaco.org.
