Party it Up With Scribblenauts Showdown

I partnered with this brand in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Scribblenauts Showdown

Released: March 6, 2018

Studio: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

Systems: Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch

It’s Scribblenauts, party-style! Use your imagination and go head-to-head in the ultimate multiplayer showdown! Enjoy a party-style Scribblenauts experience, conjuring from over 60,000 objects from the vast Scribblenauts dictionary to outsmart your opponent in over 25 mini-games!

I got this game for my kids honestly not really knowing anything about it. Scribblenauts Showdown looked fun from the cover and I read it was a party-type game. While my kids usually play role-playing strategy games, they love playing party games with their friends and honestly it is a great way for parents to get involved too. Just the other day my son was complaining he was bored so I jumped on our Nintendo Switch to play this game with him.

My son was totally impressed with my video game skills and we had so much fun together! Now I want to pick up some additional controllers so four of us can play at once. You can play with just one player versus a computer player as well, which I admit I did when no one would play with me! I had to practice the mini-games so when it came time to play with my kids, I knew what I was doing!

What makes Scribblenauts Showdown different though is kids really do have to think!

To play mini-games and advance in the game, you spin a wheel to pick a letter or category. For example, if you land on an E, the heading may say to type a word that is something heavy that will weigh down something or another heading may be name something athletic with the letter S (I chose Superhero). Luckily if your kid (or you) is stuck you just start with letters and it guesses what you are typing so you can choose from those words. Kids are learning new words and spelling and not even realizing it!

To play the mini-games you have to really move and groove! For example, there is a challenge where you have to put hand over hand like you are climbing a room or tilt the controller to move a car.

There are three different modes in Scribblenauts Showdown when you log in:

Showdown Mode – Up to four players compete against each other in “Wordy” mini-games, which challenge players to outsmart their opponents using words from the game’s vast dictionary, and “Speedy” mini-games, which pit players to race against the clock to finish.

Versus Mode – Two players go head to head in more than 25 different timed mini-games: a madcap medieval duel, a ferocious tower battle, a fast-paced eating contest and other fun challenges involving items they conjure up.

Sandbox Mode – The series’ cherished creative playground, where two players can conjure nearly any object imaginable from an expansive dictionary of 35,000 words — and watch them interact in hilarious and unexpected ways!

BUY IT:  You can buy Scribblenauts Showdown for most video game consoles on Amazon or wherever games are sold.
