3 Simple Ways To Land A Job Interview

Job hunting is so frustrating. The job market is so competitive and when you’ve got that many people all going for the same position, you’re going to have to deal with a lot of rejections. But after a while, it feels like you’ve applied for thousands of jobs and you aren’t even getting invited to an interview. You need to do something to make yourself stand out from the rest of the applicants so you can at least get your foot in the door and land an interview. These are some of the easiest ways to improve your job prospects.

Read Up On The Company

Companies are looking for people that are proactive and have a keen interest in working for them. Even if you’re just firing off applications to anybody that’s hiring, you need to make them feel like you’re excited about working with them. By researching the company and putting some of that information into your application, you show that you’re serious about working for them and that you’re hardworking because you’ve taken the time to do that extra research. Just be careful that you don’t go overboard because if you start putting facts about the company history on every other line, they’ll know exactly what you’re trying to do. Just do some research on the major projects that the company is working on and show an interest in them.

Get A Driving License

Most people have already got a driving license which means that you’re at a massive disadvantage if you haven’t. Firstly, you limit yourself because you can’t apply for anything that specifically involves driving. But even if the job itself doesn’t require you to drive, employers will be put off by somebody that relies on public transport to get to work because it just increases the chances of you being late. You can take an adult driver’s education online course to learn everything you need to know without having to take loads of lessons, which takes a while. Just remember that you still need to pass the test so make sure you’ve practiced beforehand. As soon as you get that license, you’ll improve your chances of getting a job no end.

Clean Up Your Digital Footprint

Digital footprint is a fancy term for all of the stuff about you online. That means any social media profiles etc. Most companies will check out the profiles of anybody that they’re thinking about hiring so you need to be careful about what you’ve got on there. If there are loads of posts on there complaining about work, or pictures of you going out all of the time, employers might think that you’re unreliable and you aren’t a hard worker. You should take anything like that off your profiles and make sure they give the right impression. It’s also worth changing all of the security settings to private so they can’t snoop around and make judgments about you before meeting you in person.
