But, Why Isn’t Your Blog Making You Big Bucks?

Life isn’t easy as a working mom. Given that caring for your kids is a full-time pursuit, heading back to the office will surely see all your funds going on childcare? As such, working isn’t always worthwhile. So, we stay at home and struggle on the money our partners bring in. But, let’s be honest; it’s far from ideal.

Hence why more moms than ever are turning towards home-based options like blogging. All it takes is a domain name and a unique idea to get started. You can fit this around your kids with ease. And, if the stories are anything to go by, you stand to make more here than ever before

Only, what happens if you’ve established your blog and you still aren’t seeing any money? Your dreams of making big bucks are fast going down the drain. In truth, though, there’s got to be a reason for your lack of funds. Consider, then, whether you’re guilty of the three following sins.

You don’t know how blogs make money

Many of us jump into blogging without actually thinking about how to make money. Instead, you set up, post content, and wait for funding to fall in your lap. But, that isn’t how it works. In truth, there are a few ways for a blogger to make money, and none of them involves posting what you fancy. In a roundabout way, your content attracts your audience, and in that sense does lead to earnings. But, the actual money makers are a different matter altogether. First, you’ll need to get on board with affiliate marketing. This involves working with brands and is the primary way to make money blogging. You should also develop sidelines such as an ebook or merchandise which can earn you extra.

You’re not treating this as a business

You aren’t a business person. Perhaps you never meant to be. But, if you want to see real money, you’re going to need to treat this as a business. That means putting the hours in and knowing what it takes to reach success. If you have no ideas, it’s worth looking into mba online learning which can help you to get in a business frame of mind. This will also help you make the most of any earnings you do have, and develop your blogs potential. Even if you don’t fancy studying business, try to change your thinking. Instead of seeing this as a sideline, consider how you can brand yourself to make the best of your efforts.

You aren’t putting in enough hours

Often, failure to make a success of blogging comes down to the time you put in. Don’t make the mistake of thinking a quick post once a week will see you through. Going back to this idea of seeing yourself as a business, you need to put in business hours. That means spending AT LEAST five or so hours a day on this. Otherwise, there’s little chance you’ll ever see the money you’re expecting.
