3 Helpful Tips for Planning Your Child’s Birthday Party at a Restaurant

Birthday parties are the peak social events for your children from ages 3 all the way up to 18. These are the times for your kids to socialize with all their friends, celebrate a day dedicated to themselves (or their friends), and have amazing experiences.

There are millions of ideas on websites detailing how to plan the perfect party for your children. These sites usually end up offering out of this world party plans that would take at least a year of planning and a mountainous budget.

At first, you might feel the pressure to provide the best and most outrageous parties for your child. There’s nothing like wild parties to give them beautiful memories of their youth, right? Not to fear, most of the time children are easier to please than we think. They are usually happy with a simple dinner party and going to the movies afterwards with a couple of their close friends.

All kids want to feel grown up, so giving them the option of eating at a restaurant and going to the movies will make them feel more mature and satisfied.

Here are 3 helpful tips to give your child the best restaurant birthday party ever:

1. Choosing the Theme

Do you want to throw a wild party for all the kids? Or something a little calmer/more mature? That all depends on your child, whom you know better than anyone else. This will determine what kinds of restaurants you look at for hosting your party.

Start by going online and doing a quick search for the type of atmosphere you want your kid to have for their birthday party, then start listing your top choices.

If your kid wants a full-swing party, try choosing restaurants with activities for them to do, like bounce houses, ball pits, or arcade games. These places usually cater to birthday parties anyways, saving you a bit of time in planning. But their menus tend to be very limited, focusing on menu items such as pizza or chicken fingers.

On the other hand, if you child wants a smaller party with just a few of their friends, the options widen significantly. These places will also usually take large reservations for you to host your party. In these cases, most restaurants offer a dessert option for the birthday child. However, it is also important to bring your own just in case.

You should always call the restaurant to determine if it will suit your party needs once you’ve decided on a top three.

2. Diet Accommodations

These days, diets are becoming more and more individual, depending on everything from personal moral choices to religion. Choosing a restaurant that caters to all guests’ dietary restrictions is important. The menu could determine who is able to attend your child’s party and who has to decline the invitation.

First, go over with your child who they would like to invite. After collecting a few key names, make sure to contact their parents about any dietary restrictions. This is an important step in establishing trust between you and the other parents.

After determining what types of diets you’ll be catering to, online search engines will tell you of possibilities such as delicious Halal places to eat or restaurants with vegan/vegetarian options.

3. Send Out the Invites

Finally, after all the planning of the event is settled, it’s time to spread the word about your child’s party! You already have collected a potential guest list for this event, so it’s easy enough to mail invitations to these individuals. Another great way to both give your child initiative in the party process and invite people is to give your child invitations to deliver in their school.

A dinner party is an easy way to throw a great birthday for your child. It shows you care while also being simple to plan and carry through.
