A Step By Step Guide To Outsourcing Any Area Of Your Life

Let’s be honest, modern life is busy and full of expectations. The fact is, although there are 24 hours in a day, it’s not like you have a full 24 hours to focus on getting everything done – you’re most likely lucky to have 12 of those, so the time you spend has to be intentional, and this can be difficult to do when you feel like your attention is being pulled in a million different directions, from kids, your partner, your job, and keeping the house in somewhat reasonable condition that doesn’t resemble a teenager’s bedroom.

Although it’s not considered to be the norm within society to get help unless you’re a celebrity or just really rich, there’s a good reason that people who can afford help do get it, and this largely contributes to the fact that they seem a lot less stressed than the rest of us.

Whilst we may think it’s the fact that they have money that helps them sleep easier at night, really it’s not – it’s the fact that they’re having time for themselves and focusing only on the things they want to do and that they’re good at and being able to delegate the rest.

Delegation isn’t something that’s unique to rich people, business owners, or something that has to be expensive – in fact, if more people could see just how affordable it is, it would be likely become more common place, and because when you start outsourcing things in your life, you’re going to become less stressed and have more energy and focus for the things you really love, then in this post, we’re going to share with you some of the things you can start outsourcing and then how to go about actually doing it.

It’s important to remember, that not all of these will be things will be things you need to outsource, so just take what you need from the list, and remember that there’s no right or wrong way to do this, so it’s just about finding what works for you.

Things You Can Outsource:

Cleaning:

Cooking:

Meal Prep:

Shopping:

Laundry:

Ironing:

Childcare:

Admin:

Organization:

Business Support:

Get clear on what you need:

The very first step when it comes to outsourcing is knowing what you need. The mistake a lot of people make here is thinking that because they know someone else who outsources a certain thing and it looks cool, that they have to outsource this, too, but really if it’s not going to make a positive difference in your life, then it’s irrelevant.

In order to know what you need help with, then just make a simple list of all the things you do on a daily basis – whether you’re looking to outsource one area of your life such as personal life or business, or even a mixture, just write down everything that gets done.

Then, look at your list and get honest about what things you’d like to delegate or what things you’re just not good at, so would prefer to delegate.

This list will serve as a great starting point in getting you organized and less overwhelmed when it comes to delegating and outsourcing certain things, so it’s important that you don’t miss this step.

Categorize:

Now that you have your list made out, then it’s time to split it into categories. You can categorize this however you like, and it may cover one area of your life or it can be split into categories that cover different areas. For example, let’s say you have a business and are looking to outsource some things there, then you could have a marketing category, a technology category, and an admin category, but then if you’re also looking to outsource some of your home life, then admin is a category that could cover both of those areas – you might hire one person to do that specific category, or you could hire specific people for each.

Do your research:

Once you know exactly what it is you need help with and you have everything in front of you, then it’s time to start researching and doing some looking around for people who could potentially help you. For example, you could look for cleaning companies by asking for recommendations from your friends who have cleaners, or you could have a look online for IT Support companies who could be a good potential fit for your business.

Start reaching out:

The research portion shouldn’t be something that takes forever, but should just give you an overall idea of what’s on offer and a rough idea of costs, etc. The best way to really get a feel for companies or individuals you’re interested in working with is simply by reaching out to them and having a chat. You can learn a lot from a short interview and they will tell you about their experience, their services, prices, and basically anything you need or want to know and this can help you narrow down your search a good bit to find the right person or people.

Do trial runs:

When hiring people, it’s always recommended to have a short trial run. Really a trial is best done anywhere from two weeks to a month, but it can be as long or as short as you need to feel comfortable.

The great thing about a trial is that it’s a trial for both of you, so you get to see if this is going to work long-term and if you realize that it won’t, then you can both walk away unscathed. It’s also expected that you pay during the trial period, but the main thing is that you’re looking to see who’s a good fit and who isn’t going to be right for you, your family or your business.

Once you have a couple of trial runs, then it really gives you a good insight into how people work and you may even learn some things about how to let go of certain tasks and see that outsourcing really isn’t as difficult or as scary as you thought.
