Can Crohn’s Disease Kill You?

Amy has just been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. After experiencing intense abdominal pain, loose bowel movements, weight loss, and fatigue, Amy consulted her family doctor. Her doctor told her that Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease or IBD. Immediately, Amy became worried about the long-term consequences of having an IBD. This is because she has heard that IBDs can cause serious conditions over extended time periods. Worst of all, Amy wonders if Crohn’s disease can cause death.

Amy is not alone. In the United States, particularly, 780,000 people live with Crohn’s disease and more are diagnosed every day. Consequently, many wonder what they can do to mitigate their symptoms and help prevent any future complications.

Undoubtedly, Crohn’s disease can cause several serious, potentially life-threatening conditions. Patients with Crohn’s disease often require regular screenings for colorectal cancer, since they have an increased risk of developing it. Unfortunately, however, Crohn’s disease cannot be cured. Usually, the recommended treatment is steroids and immunosuppressants to slow the disease progress. If Crohn’s disease cannot be adequately treated by medications, patients may require surgery, though.

Other possible complications of Crohn’s include fistulas, intestinal obstructions, abscesses, hemorrhages, and acute regional enteritis. Some patients’ symptoms go away over time while others experience them for the rest of their lives. The longer someone has the disease, the less effective treatments tend to be. People who suffer for many years are also more likely to require surgery and develop serious complications.

BPC-157 and Crohn’s Disease

In addition to the number of already clinically proven treatments for Crohn’s disease, mounting evidence shows that BPC-157 may also help.

BPC-157 is a pentadecapeptide that is stable in human gastric juice. It is a synthetic compound that does not occur in nature. However, it is made up of amino acids which are already present in the body in very small amounts. BPC-157 has been shown to have numerous healing benefits for various parts of the body. The compound shows promise in treating muscular and intestinal problems, including inflammatory bowel conditions.

BPC-157 has yet to finish the process of passing through human clinical trials. However, researchers have tested the compound on lab mice with promising results. BPC-157 seems to be of use in treating various inflammatory gastrointestinal conditions and reducing their symptoms. BPC-157 may be effective for healing ulcers and other gastrointestinal wounds resulting from Crohn’s. This is not to say that BPC-157 replaces other methods of treating IBD. When used in conjunction with steroids, immunosuppressants, and other already proven treatments, BPC-157 may be even more helpful in treating these conditions.

BPC-157 is free of any known serious side effects. Some people report experiencing some nausea as their bodies become accustomed to the compound. However, most people who use BPC-157 experience no side effects at all. Often, people experience positive results in as little as a week.
