Italy – The land of La Dolce Vita, is one of the worlds most beautiful destinations to explore. The artistic treasures, diverse landscapes and mouth-watering food make Italy a place that has something for everyone.
I visited Italy way back, and all I can say is I made a great choice to explore the land where beauty is an obligation. The country is jam-packed with beautiful sites, and it is nearly impossible for one to explore it all in one go. Well, don’t worry. I have got your back.
Though I was left awe-struck with the immense beauty of all the places I visited. But, the five sites I am going to mention here should not be missed by anyone who chooses to visit Italy.
The reason I am telling you to visit these five places is that these can never fade away from my memory, at least in this lifetime. Although each site in Italy has its aura to keep you mesmerized, these five places are close to my heart. You’ll easily find these places among most popular Italy tours.
Venice is a strikingly, beautiful city, and anyone can get lost in its adventurous streets. The city has over four hundred bridges, and it welcomes over eighteen million tourists each year. Every nook and corner of the city is artistically beautiful, and there are loads of lovely churches to visit.
With every place being immensely attractive, what sets St. Mark’s apart? Well, it is the interior. The interior of this ninth-century building is covered in over 85,000 square feet of Mosaics. The fantastic thing about the mosaics is that they can cover over 1.5 American football field, and there are more than 500 columns.
A city in central Italy and the renaissance capital of Italy, Florence is filled with incredible art and architecture along with the lion’s share of paintings at the Uffizi Art Gallery. At this place, you will find some of the world’s best arts including Leonardo Da Vinci’s Annunciation, the Adoration of the Magi, Botticelli’s Primavera, and other significant works by Raphael, Michelangelo, Titian, and Lippi.
After adoring the art at this gallery, you might not want to miss the Duomo di Firenze. The site is not visually impressive like other cathedrals in Italy, but it is essential for another significant reason, which is the Construction of the location. You will be amazed to know but its construction altered the history of the world. The architect used ancient engineering knowledge and built the entire place without a wooden support frame.
To appreciate the work of Brunelleschi- The architect behind this incredible construction, try climbing up its 436 steps to the top. I know it is a tough task to climb many stairs, but believe me, you will be amazed by the spectacular view.
One of the most significant collections of arts in the world is found in the Vatican Museums. The museum is a must-see for those who seek to understand the history of Rome, Italy. The sculpture, tapestries, paintings, drawings, and more from the famous Italian artists, have so impeccably influenced the relation between how we see art and its place in society.
I suggest you wander through the enormous building to make the most of your trip.
An icon of the ancient empire and a bastion of the impressive culture of Rome, Trevi fountain is one of the first sources of water in Rome. The fountain was a lifesaver for many citizens, bringing fresh water to the city. I suggest you visit the fountain at night so that you may see the massive statues and crystal water dressed up in the beautiful light.
The fountain is made of world-famous stones as the world-famous colosseum, and you would not want to skip visiting the colosseum. Now, when you visit the place, do visit from the inside as there is much more to see in the historic structure from the inside, than outside.

One of the many UNESCO world heritage sites in Italy, Alberobello is a must-visit site for those who are looking forward to having a unique experience away from the crowd. The Trulli or ancient cone-shaped peasant houses must be visited to step back in time. Though Puglia is less visited by tourists, it is home to some of the best wines and seafood in the country. Around the tourist area, the site has many bars, snack shops, restaurants, and pizzerias.
Bari and Brindisi are the best airports to visit Alberobello at a budget from united airlines. If you choose to travel by united airlines, do not forget to check your tickets at united airlines booking.
You may also consider booking your flight tickets via Faremart- An online platform offering amazing deals and discounts on flight tickets with access to more than 450 airlines.
The list of beautiful destinations does not end here. These are just the top 5 places that I suggest you visit while on your trip to Italy. The utmost beauty with which the entire country is surrounded and the fantastic culture will leave you stunned. Also, the serene experience will make want to revisit the site.

We went on a tour of eight countries in Europe in 2002 and it was the best vacation we have ever taken!! Italy was one of those countries. I never realized how long Italy is. We went through Venice. We went to St. Mark’s Basilica. Gorgeous!!
Venice was a spectacular city with water everywhere and gondolas too. The food was delicious!! Pizza ? is not what I expected! It was super thin. I’ll take Chicago’s deep dish pizza any day! But I would go back to Italy in a New York minute ?
never been but would love to go
I have been to Rome and I agree that seeing the Vatican, Colosseum and Trevi Fountain are must sees. Rome is a beautiful city with so much history.
