I received this car for one week to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
Did you know that Equinox sales have reached nearly 2 million since its launch and it is Chevrolet’s second-best selling vehicle, after the Silverado? Honestly, I didn’t know much about the Chevy Equinox before, but after driving it around for a week, I see why it is such a best-seller.
With the weather here being so crazy day to day, we take advantage of every nice day we can and having a car to do that in is a must for my family. Last week I saw that we were going to have a nice day so I loaded up the Chevy Equinox I was driving that week with all our beach essentials.
Having a family of five, I have a few must-haves in a car:
Can it fit all five of us comfortably?
Is there cargo space for everyday fun and sports equipment?
Is there a map system built-in? While I love my phone, I do prefer a bigger screen with maps rather than relying on my phone.
Here is what I found the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox offered:
Touchscreen with controls for everything from climate to radio to navigation and other apps. You actually use an app off your phone (Android Auto) and it syncs with the car. Don’t worry Apple users there is Apple CarPlay too.
Pretty standard but I love how the dashboard provides so many important details about the car such as tire pressure, fluid levels and even range left on your tank of gas.
Rear Vision camera – especially important when the trunk is full as it can be so hard to see good behind you. I am so used to this feature now, I don’t know if I would be comfortable without. You can also change the angles of the camera to see all around the car.
Lots of USB ports and even a plug – this is a must for families as we all tend to have devices that need to be charged as soon as we get in the car!
Chevrolet 4G LTE connectivity with available Wi-Fi hotspot (includes 3GB/one-month data trial) is standard – this was pretty cool to try out and boy did my kids take advantage of internet in the car!
Wireless charging is standard on Premier – this was awesome for me as I finally have a phone that can take advantage of this feature. So nice to not have to deal with cords.
Comfortable leather seats – the seats were comfortable for all of us and yeah for easily cleaned leather!
Giant sunroof – my kids were amazed by the size of this thing!
The hands-free lift gate opens with the gentle motion of your foot to conveniently stow away your items without hassle – perfect since my hands were full when we got back to the car!
Safety is obviously a concern to me as a mom of three and the Equinox Premier comes standard with Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alter and heated outside mirrors with turn signal indicators for added safety. There is also a reminder that pops up when you turn off the car to check the back seat, such a great reminder especially for parents of infants.
Cargo space is something that came in handy for this trip but it also came in handy earlier in the week when I had to take my 12-year-old goalie to hockey practice. If you know how big hockey equipment is then you know this is a good size trunk and thanks to the 60/40 split-folding rear seats I had up to 64 cubic ft. of cargo space.
Thanks to the smooth ride of the Chevrolet Equinox, we made it the hour to the beach and my kids had a blast wakeboarding and playing in the sand.
