Essentials to Pack for Your Weekend Trip to the Cabin

Weekends are the best time to schedule a quick getaway to a cozy cabin embedded within the great outdoors. In addition to getting some much-needed quality time with your partner or friends, you get to embrace plenty of outdoor activities in a scenic location. To make sure you are prepared, go over the following list of cabin essentials for your next weekend getaway.

Entertainment

Make sure you pack plenty of entertainment for nights spent indoors. This is particularly important if you are planning a lengthier stay at a cabin during the winter months. Pack several decks of cards so that you can play plenty of individual and group games. You will also want to pack several board games. Consider bringing along some of the familiar classics in addition to more complex board games that are perfect for long sessions by the fire. Strategy board games such as the Rise of Tribes game are an excellent way to experience an exciting and competitive edge to standard board game play.

Music and Movies

Make sure you research whether your cabin will come equipped with a television or stereo. If it does, you can pack accordingly so that you can take advantage of the amenities. If not, you can prepare by bringing along a laptop along with a USB stick or installed app that has purchased or rented movies and shows already downloaded to it. Make sure you pack a portable speaker for time spent by the lake or on the porch. Be mindful of whether you will have any fellow vacationers for neighbors nearby or local residents when it comes to determining your music choices and the volume you set it to. To make sure that everything stays powered and connected, remember to bring extra chargers in case one gets lost or stops working. You should also bring protective cases to help keep your items safe even when they are being used outdoors.

Recreational Activities

Pack supplies for any recreational activities you plan to engage in during your weekend away. In addition to obvious supplies such as hiking boots for lengthy hikes and a swimsuit for time spent in the lake, remember the basics such as bug repellent, sunscreen, lighters and sunglasses. Make sure you will stay comfortable while engaging in some of your favorite outdoor activities by considering supplies such as proper hiking socks and flashlights for nighttime adventures. Also, aim to leave as little of an environmental imprint as possible by bringing green-friendly objects such as reusable water bottles. These will also help ensure that you are not stuck carrying your trash with you when you are hiking on the trail.

Maps

In addition to helping you prepare for the worst, maps will make it easier for you to see what sorts of sights and activities are available around you. Acquire plenty of maps of the area alongside any tourist guides that will help you find different sightseeing spots. Bring along a compass so that you can read the map on the go if necessary.

By packing ahead of time, you can guarantee a fun and safe time during your weekend away at the cabin.
