How to Ensure Your Car Safety While on Vacation

A person’s car is important. Not only is it a means to get to point B, but it’s also tied into one’s entire lifestyle. Getting to work, getting groceries, getting the kids, all revolves around being able to get to your car. When you’re going on vacation, you need to make absolutely sure that your vehicle is safe, and in functional condition, by the time you get back to the real world.

Keep It With A Friend Or Relative

Although some might want to choose the option of just leaving it in the garage, that’s still not a sound assurance. There have been countless stories and police reports about people’s vehicles being stolen and houses being robbed while they’re on vacation. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, holidays, which happens to be a big reason why people go on vacation in the first place, see a huge spike in car theft. Their 2017 list cited New Years Day as the number 1 day for stolen vehicles with 2,469 reports. That’s an 11% increase for a single day. With these statistics in mind, it’s probably a good idea to keep your car with someone you trust. If you have a friend or relative with some extra space, you can ask them. It’s better than leaving it alone in your house.

Airport Parking Services

To be absolutely sure that everything is kept safe, it’s a really good idea to park your car with a professional car park business. These businesses have a reputation to protect. They pride themselves on being able to keep your belongings safe with an extensive list of security measures. For starters, every single inch of the lot can be visualized with their cameras. For instance, if you decide to get Airport parking with Parkos, you can be confident that every single option has a thorough security system. Secondly, the good ones have a roving security guard on the property that makes regular rounds multiple times a day. And lastly, these businesses usually have a gate with either a post and a barricade or tire spikes that can only be retracted by the automated system or an actual employee. These are safety features put in place to make sure your car is kept 100% safe while you’re away.

Beef Up Your Security

Security systems are never a bad idea when it comes to important pieces of property, no matter where you decide to leave your car. Along with the standard alarm system, internal camera systems are a sure way to capture any suspicious activity relating to your vehicle. If you’re keeping it in your driveway or in your garage, an inexpensive camera in the corner will do just fine. If you’re going to park it in a parking garage, a good nanny cam can get the job done.

These are some simple tips on how to keep your car safe. Ultimately, what you do with your property is your choice. But if you want the certainty of professional service, choose the one with cameras and steps put in place to ensure that your car is kept safe, clean, and scratch-free.

  • Always lock your car. I know, I know. You’ve probably heard this one before. But I can't count the number of times acquaintances have complained that their car was broken into while parked in their driveway or on the street in front of their house. 9 times out of 10 it was unlocked. Yes, you should be able to leave it unlocked and no one should bother it. But the reality is that leaving it unlocked is just not a smart thing to do. Even when I am home my car is ALWAYS in my garage. And when I am out and about it is locked whenever I leave it
