4 Helpful Tips That Can Make Your Trip to Medellin Easier

Medellin is the second biggest city in Colombia and has always been an attractive tourist destination. Known as the city of the eternal spring, Medellin is famous for its beautiful weather and breathtaking flower farms. Tourist has taken a certain liking to the city, and if you visit it once, you just would not be able to help yourself from coming back. That is why it is the third most visited city after Bogota and Cartagena. So if you have decided to go to the beautiful land of flowers, here are a few tips that can prove helpful for you.

Explore Different Neighborhoods

Most of the people who visit Medellin stay focused on only one town called Poblado. If you have searched online or you have asked from a friend about places to visit in Medellin the chances are they have told you to visit Poblado. Medellin is not just limited to Poblado and has some other awesome neighborhoods as well. Poblado is a town that is mostly filled with tourists and white people. Are you visiting Colombia to meet more people from your country, or do you want a taste of their own culture and people? That is why instead of just staying focused on one town, try discovering more of Medellin and visit different neighborhoods.

Moving Around In Medellin

Medellin has an excellent metro structure and moving in the city is quite easy and simple. If you are staying in the busy or popular part of the city you will have easy access to public transportation. Apart from public transportation you can travel via taxis as well. Taxis are very easily available in Medellin, and you can tour the city in them if you want to get more comfortable experience. Uber is also available in the city, but it is illegal. You can still use it though, but it is better to take a taxi.

Take Good Care of Your Money

Medellin is a very busy city, and if you are moving through crowded areas of the city, put your money where it is safe. Instead of just putting it in your back pocket, put it in your safe bag or wear a fanny bag. Losing money in a foreign place can be really stressful. You can always get more cash by asking friends or family to  send money from the U.S. to Colombia via services like Western Union. That is why you should make sure that you are putting your money in a safe place.

You Should Learn Basic Spanish

Even though Medellin is a favorite tourist city, and English is understood here pretty well, it is still advised that you learn at least basic Spanish words. Around the areas like Poblado you will be able to find English speakers easily, but that would not be the case when you visit other neighborhoods. Even if you find some English speakers there, they would not be as good you will expect them to be. That is why I will suggest you learn at least some useful Spanish words before you decide to take that trip.
