A Great Learning Opportunity for the Stay at Home Mom

You are already doing a great job raising your family, and organizing your home and social life.  But what if you are now ready to stretch your mind a little more, do something just for you, and at the same time add something valuable to your CV.

Welcome to the world of online learning at the University of Alabama Birmingham.

Who it appeals to

After completing full time education and gaining an undergraduate degree, many students simply enter the working environment, focusing on developing their career path and gaining steady promotion.

Personal relationships also develop, getting married, and starting a family are a natural progression, along with involvement in playgroups and schools, and by association your local community.  At that early stage of your life there is little time for anything else!

But eventually, children become more self-sufficient, home life runs more smoothly and you have time on your hands and start wondering what’s next for you!

However with your family responsibility, it is not viable to return to full time education on a campus, so online learning can tick many boxes for the stay at home Mom. That’s why an online option can be the best option, and let’s face it, it’s never too late to improve your education.

Why is it attractive

Gaining an online degree appeals to mature students, who already have family obligations. You can take your time, access the coursework and study whenever you have some spare moments, and fit it in around your other commitments.

Whilst you may have to attend some occasional exterior lectures, generally everything is accessed via your computer in the comfort of your home.  You can balance your home life and learning however it suits you.

How can online MBA students benefit

Learners in the MBA online study groups don’t need to commit so fully to time frames as they might do on campus. It’s a more relaxed, person focused way of learning designed to enable students to study as and when they have free time. It is assumed that students have already gained a good grounding in managing their time and workflow and this will enable them to successfully adapt to this different way of learning.

Mature students have already developed study skills and can manage their time effectively. This means that when taking up the challenge of online learning, they can make more informed decisions on how many classes to commit to, in order to fit them around their family obligations and schedule.

Finding the time to study

Generally stay at home Moms can study while their own children are studying at school, and the house is calm and peaceful. In the evening there are usually a couple of hours of quiet time to read or catch up on assignments. Basically just choose the best time for you.  But all this is easily manageable. It’s a big step to commit to something different and takes you out of your comfort zone, but if you’ve already mastered the art of running a home, raising a family, don’t worry you’ve got this!
