Reasons Why Stay At Home Moms Are Running Home-Based Businesses

Imagine having to take a conference call with your manager while you’re at home; your 3-month old baby is screaming in the background and your older daughter is messing around with something in the kitchen. If you’re a mom, you have probably witnessed this scene every day. The situation gets really embarrassing when you have to go to work the next day and justify your kids’ uncontrollable actions to your boss. For this reason and many others, moms choose to quit the corporate world and start their own work-from-home business.

There are a lot of mothers that push towards this decision and we will introduce you as to why this happens throughout this article.

Having kids

Becoming a mom is one of the greatest joys in life, yet it comes with some drawbacks in the workforce. Their number and age can vary, but your children still need full-time care. That’s why it’s always a challenge for moms to leave their kids behind and commit to going to work every day. Some mothers choose to leave their children at their grandparents or hire baby-sitters or nannies to attend to their offspring while they’re at work. However, other moms cannot do either option, so they are forced to quit their work and find home-based work, or start their own business that is to be managed from home too.

Work conditions

Some ideal offices start at 8 am and finish by 4 or 5 pm, but unfortunately, that is not the case in all businesses. In fact, most of the jobs now tend to have rotational 9-hour shifts and sometimes they force employees to stay extra hours due to business needs. The latter jobs would never suit a mom, no matter how old her kids are; she will not be able to keep up, nor will she have any time to show care and love towards them. Other work conditions can demand employees to travel a lot and for long periods, which is something not all moms can do. Therefore, these mothers choose to operate from home rather than having inconvenient jobs.

Dream jobs

A lot of mothers wait for a chance to finally start their own business that was hindered by corporate jobs. That’s why as soon as they get the chance to quit their work, they immediately start to shift their career to accomplish their long-awaited business. Some moms start small crafting businesses and others start vlogging and blogging. If you’re a mom, who desperately wants to start your own business, you should start by searching for efficient invoice templates to help you bill your clients and get paid faster. You can search online or discover more here about the best invoice templates your business needs. It’s recommended to always choose high-quality templates rather than downloading free ones that would do nothing but waste your time.

Single parent

Being a mom is already hard enough, but being a single mom puts you through a lot and demands you to be always present since you’re being the mother and the father in your home. The wisest decision in your situation is to run a home-based business; this way you’ll take care of your children, be present and be able to financially support them. Your small business can grow bigger and so will your revenue if you put as much effort as you can in this business. We know it can get tough while you’re the only parent watching over your kids, but it would be easier to find a balance between parenting and working when you’re not stuck in an office all day.

Exhaustion and tiredness

Moms who work full-time shifts, come home to prepare dinner, fight the urge to sleep to spend some quality time with their children, then do it all again every day tend to get exhausted and emotionally, and physically, drained over time. Sometimes they actually become seriously sick and suffer from illnesses like insomnia and depression. These reasons push them towards leaving their jobs and choosing to work from home to be able to find peace in their lives. Even if the father is supportive, most of the time his work conditions will not allow him to cook or do the household chores.

Women are all independent and strong; they have proven their importance in the career world throughout the years, but as soon as they become moms, their priorities change a bit. They usually put their children before themselves and sacrifice a lot for their sake. Due to all the above-mentioned reasons, we see loads of mothers quit corporate life and replace it with a peaceful home-based work that is surely a better option to care for their little ones while being able to accomplish their career goals.
