Exciting Camping Ideas for Your Kids

Spending quality time with your kids is very important. You can’t describe just how beautiful the bond is between you and your kids unless you’ve experienced it yourself. One of the best ways to get to know them better is through engaging in activities with them, and the best ones are always outdoors. This is your chance to take your kids on a nice camping trip to see the wonders of the woods.

So, we’ve come up with some exciting camping ideas for you that can make this trip with your kids quite memorable.

Go on a Scavenger Hunt

This is an amazing idea and your kids will have so much fun doing it. You can plan it perfectly because the woods would have numerous things to find, so remember to make a list. Show your kids what the items look like first because they might not know and then you can choose to make it a timed hunt or not. Divide them into teams or have everyone explore by themselves, but it’s fun either way when you keep score and track everyone’s progress. You could help them if you want, especially if one of your kids is struggling. Remember to make it as exciting as possible, and don’t make it too hard.

Telling Them Scary Stories

If you’re in the mood to spook them a bit and then laugh with each other about it later, then this is a wonderful opportunity to get them together in a circle at night and start engaging with them in storytelling. It’s going to be dark out and if building a fire isn’t an option, then you should invest in a lantern before going on the trip. There are various kinds, and you should compare dual fuel vs propane lanterns, in terms of the size, price, burn time, and ease of use. Once you’ve made your choice and have gotten it ready for your night in the woods, start using it theatrically. Remember to pause silently and give them jump scares with sudden, high-pitched voices. It doesn’t have to be too scary and you can add some comedy in it too. This will be a very memorable activity and they will have a blast hearing those scary stories.

Stone Skipping

If there is a pond nearby, then this is a fun game that you could play. You can compete to see which one throws a stone that skips the most and the furthest. Remember to teach them the right technique with a hand twist before throwing it and always tell them to find the flattest stones/rocks for it to work properly. It’s going to be fun watching them try, but just remember to be careful and not let them throw rocks at each other. Overall, this will be a nice and relaxing activity to do together.

Stargazing

This will be another fun thing to do and it’s a chance to see just how creative they are. Get your sleeping bags and sleep next to each other in a circle, then you can start looking up in the sky and see if your kids can make up shapes and patterns with the stars. You can be creative too, and tell them what you think you see, making it fun for them because you’re participating. You can let them tell you a story of what they see, and it would be funny listening to them make it up as they go. You can mix it up by eating some marshmallows while you’re stargazing and listening to their stories.

Go Fishing

It might be difficult for them to understand, but you can teach them how to catch some fish. Teach them about the lures, bait, how to properly use the fishing pole, and how it requires complete silence, so they don’t scare the fish away. Tell them that it’s okay if they didn’t catch anything from the first try. But if they do, remember to get your camera ready. Watching them carry their first catch will be such a momentous occasion, so remember to take a nice picture of that.

Having kids is one of the best joys in life. It’s a fulfilling thing when you see them having so much fun on the trip that they just don’t want to leave. You should cherish these wonderful moments before they grow up and leave. Never take it for granted or ignore spending time with them. You should always do spontaneous and fun activities like camping because it’s good for them to have a parent that focuses on spending a lot of time with them.
