Keeping Your Little Ones Entertained at Home

When we think of entertainment for our little ones, we tend to automatically think of outdoor activities. We consider taking them to the park. We check cinema listings for the latest kids’ films. We look to see whether there are child-friendly performances at the theatre. We look up the nearest science centers. But it’s extremely important right now to remember that you don’t have to head outdoors to keep our children entertained, occupied and feeling fulfilled. Instead, there are so many activities you can carry out in the comfort of your own home. Here are a few that you might want to consider!

Arts and Crafts

Most kids love arts and crafts. It allows their creative side to reign supreme. So get some art and crafts supplies in and supervise your little ones while they create all sorts of masterpieces. Whether that’s macaroni art, finger painting, potato prints, colouring books, dot to dots or anything else. If you’re feeling brave and don’t mind finding sparkles in your hair, clothes and carpet for the foreseeable future, you might even want to get the glitter out!

Play Games

There are so many different games out there that there’s bound to be some that will interest your little ones. Take a look around and see what you have. You may have board games scattered around already. Jigsaws tend to be a popular choice. If you don’t have any new games, don’t worry. There are simple games that you can put in place yourself, such as asking disney movie trivia questions.

Baking

Let’s get culinary! Now, we don’t recommend that you go for anything too complex. But you can make all sorts of simple and straightforward cakes with your kids. Many come in boxes that contain premade mixes, reducing the amount of time spent on actual cooking and allowing more time and creativity with the fun part – decorating!

Films

If your children are tired but still want something to do, why not put a film on? Whether you have a DVD player and a bunch of DVDs lying around, or whether you are subscribed to Disney plus, Netflix, Amazon Prime or other subscription services, there are going to be many options to keep a smile on any little one’s face.

Pick Up an Instrument

Learning an instrument is a great activity for any kid. Not only does it increase their hand-eye coordination, their sense of rhythm and teach them a potentially impressive skill, but it will provide hours of entertainment. Just minimize speakers to avoid disturbing your neighbors.

Reading

Never underestimate the neverending potential for fun that books can provide kids with. They can stir their imaginations and take them to different lands! Take a look at some of the most popular kids books for options that have been loved for generations.

Your home can provide an endless world of entertainment for your kid. You might just have to think outside of the box a little! Hopefully, the above ideas will help to get your imagination whirring!
