Immunity and the immune system have been in people’s minds lately. We are in the middle of a global pandemic, after all, and many doctors point out that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is now more important than ever.
It should be pointed out that since this virus is new, there are still plenty of unknowns. No one can say for sure how helpful it is to have a strong immune system right now. What is known, however, is that people with compromised immune systems are infected much easier and tend to develop worse symptoms. Therefore, it’s probably a good idea to look into ways to boost your and your family’s immune system.
1 – Make sure everyone is getting enough sleep
Two things are important when it comes to sleep and health. First, you need to spend the proper amount of time sleeping. Don’t focus too hard on sleeping eight hours a night — that’s just a rule of thumb. Some people need more; some people need less.
Regularity is another key factor in sleep quality. It doesn’t matter what schedule you follow: you can go to bed at 4 am and wake up at noon every day. As long as that schedule is consistent, you’ll reap the benefits. Choose a bedtime that works for you and stick to it, then ask that your family members do the same. That will help them stay healthy.
2 – Get people eating healthy foods
Making your family eat more healthily is easier said than done. But remember, the goal here is to boost immunity, not manage their weight. You can let everyone eat their usual stuff, just ask that they also eat some fruits as snacks during the day, and maybe add some vegetables to their meals. You should do the same to your meals, of course.
Fruits, vegetables, seeds, and legumes are all rich in nutrients and antioxidants, which can help reduce inflammation and boost your body’s immune response. You also want to add more healthy fats to your and your family’s diet. Good sources of healthy fats include olive oil, salmon, sardines, and chia seeds. Green tea is also famous for its health-boosting effects.
3 – Have a hydration plan for the family
Drinking enough water is also essential to maintaining a healthy immune system. If your family doesn’t have a problem doing that, you can skip this step. If you or your family struggles with hydration, however, you need a plan.
There are a few tricks that can get your family drinking more water. One is to simply make sure everyone has a water bottle around them at all times, as that makes them more likely to drink while they’re doing other stuff. Another trick is to make infused water. This simply means adding fruits or other ingredients to water in order to make it tastier, which in turn makes people more likely to drink.
4 – Manage stress levels
Stress weakens the immune system, and it can be a real problem in these times of uncertainty, especially if your family is in quarantine and having trouble adapting to the imposed indoor routine. Group activities such as movie nights, playing board games, and exercising together can all help lower stress levels around the house. Dancing together can be a great way to unwind while doing something creative and staying active.
Or you can try adding natural calming remedies to your family’s daily routine. Experiment with burning incenses, drinking chamomile tea, or drinking CBD with your morning coffee. If you’d like to learn more about CBD, check out Cibdol.com.
