How to Grow Your Brand with Instagram Videos

Instagram has become one of the most widely-used social media platforms on the planet, with well over one billion users. Instagram’s audience is enormous, and so is the number of content creators and posts; so how does one stand out among a sea of competition?

If you’re looking to increase the number of people who see your Instagram videos and other content, there are some steps to take to not only optimize your content, but also to improve the overall quality and your page’s reach. Below, we’ve put together a short list of a few helpful tips for increasing your Instagram video views. Fore more tips, follow this ultimate guide to Instagram video.

Improve Your Hashtags

When you start using Instagram video, don’t forget the hashtags. Instagram pretty much runs on hashtags, which act as more than just content identifying “tags” on your posts; they’re also the keywords that help your content get discovered by new viewers.

Improving your hashtags means your content will be easier to find in search engine and Instagram search results, as it helps to group your content together with similar pages. When someone searches “beauty tutorial”, you’ll want your beauty-related content to pop up, right? You’ll need the right hashtags to ensure you’re higher in the search results.

The higher up you are, the more likely it is that your content will get views, shares, and new followers. Don’t underestimate the power of good hashtags. Keep your tags limited to between seven and ten per post, and make sure they’re both channel and content-specific. Avoid over-used phrases like #love, #beauty, and more. The more specific you are, the better.

Focus On Quality Over Quantity

The age-old question of quantity versus quality isn’t even a debate on Instagram. If you’re not uploading high-quality content, you can forget about expanding your audience. Quality will always beat quantity on platforms like Instagram because it shows a thing or two about the content creator.

People are looking for genuine experiences from genuine people. While social media might be draped in filters and alterations, at the end of the day, the user base is made up of normal, every-day people. The more genuine you are with your content, the more your viewers will respect your efforts and share your videos.

That doesn’t mean you can’t edit your videos or alter them in any way. It simply means you must focus more on the quality of what you’re uploading rather than pumping out videos for the sake of filling your followers’ feeds. Too much content can cause people to unfollow your page!

Stay True To Your Niche

This is a tip that’s more important than you might think. Staying true to your niche and yourself can be difficult on socia media, especially with so much pressure to look, act, and think a certain way. Remember the talk we had about being genuine? You’ll also need to stay true to your page’s niche. For example, if you’re a beauty page and you start uploading political content, there’s a good chance you’re going to lose followers.

You’ll likely find yourself pressured from either followers, friends, or even the community at large to change your content. The bottom line is that you’ll never get anywhere trying to impersonate or mimic someone else. Stay true to yourself, your ideas, and your page, and you’ll experience greater success. Remember, you can be the best mimic in the world, but you’ll still never be the person you’re imitating. The only person you can be is you.

Watch Your Competitors

Let’s clarify something here, so as not to contradict the previous paragraph: you should always be paying attention to the competition, but not because you want to be the competition. You’re looking for things that can help set you apart from your competitors and make your videos stand out more.

That’s not to say you can’t mimic or adopt certain practices your competitors use. For instance, if your competitor has an SEO strategy that seems to work better than yours, there’s no reason you can’t study it or adopt it for yourself; but when it comes to content, make sure you’re staying true to your niche and yourself.

Keep Pushing Forward

Being a content creator can be difficult at times. With pressure from followers, the platform itself, and even new rules and content guidelines, it can seem almost impossible to keep up with everything. Just remember that you’re doing a great job as long as you’re staying true to you and your content niche.

Don’t underestimate the value of good hashtags and a solid SEO strategy. You can have the best content on the platform, but if you’re not reaching the right audience, your page will just get buried among millions of others. Keep doing what you’re doing and stay focused and you’ll do just fine!
