Being a parent comes with loads of responsibilities. It even gets worse if it is a mother as she spends most of her time with the kid. Traveling is essential as you need to do shopping, go to work, visit friends or even have that vacation. The following are simple tips on how mums can prevent car accidents.
USING SAFETY EQUIPMENT CORRECTLY
Luckily with some careful planning there are ways to keep all the family safe. All cars are equipped with the safety belt which is mandatory for all passengers to wear, if the safety belt gets twisted while being clipped in place although it has been known to lead to fatalities even in grown adults. The young ones require safety seats.
So using all safety equipment is necessary for it to work properly and not do the opposite of what it is designed for. If a young child is a board then a baby seat is required and making sure the child and the seat itself is strapped in correctly is essential.
Have a Go-To Lawyer
It may sound off already knowing the exact lawyer you want to talk to in case something wrong happens, but this is a good thing. It’s so important to think ahead. If you’ve been in an accident, there is going to be so much going on, from damages to injuries, that you may not have the time or energy to search for a lawyer. This is why you need to look for one in advance. Even if you ride a motorcycle or similar vehicle (including your spouse or kids), you should still look into motorcycle accident attorneys as well as other accident-related lawyers.
WHERE ACCIDENTS OCCUR
Most of the smaller accidents occur near home. You do not hear about so much as they are not as newsworthy as the horrific accidents which are reported, the majority of serious and fatal accidents happen on motorways or highways. It is no surprise that when the lovely summer breaks come upon us driving long distances increase across the country, no matter how desperate you and your family might be to get to your final holiday destination, it is better to take regular breaks in order to refresh your mind and. Where possible have more than one driver in order to share the driving experience with you as this would enable you to take turns to share the drive time
WEATHER CONDITIONS
Although it is not possible to control the weather, it is possible to reduce the risk of accidents by regularly checking weather news and try to avoid driving in bad weather such as hard rain, snow, ice and strong winds. If you are already driving and are unfortunate enough to get stuck in any of these serious weather conditions it would be best to find a safe place to stop until it is safe to drive again. If this is not possible then slow down and drive cautiously.
WATCH OUT FOR OTHER ROAD USERS
Driving slowly and cautiously will help prevent any accident from occurring. Also to be looking out for pesky road users, I mean the ones who do not always abide by the law. Luckily, there are experts that are trained in this field and will help with an auto accident which ensures that everything gets back to normal. I myself have witnessed my fair share of red light jumpers and not using stop signs. We all want to get to our final destination. Safety comes first, diving at a slower pace will minimize the risk of an accident. It is a well-known fact that with age comes experience this is why younger drivers pose more of a threat than older drivers, within towns and cities.
I remember when I was young and walking to school myself the amount of accidents that nearly occurred from children playing and being silly. There was even a game that the older boys used to play which was basically trying to get as close to a moving car as possible. Obviously, this is a very stupid game which I never played, or the more likely scenario is a ball bouncing in front of a car and a child running after it. Unfortunately, I am guilty of that. I have also witnessed a dog running out into the road after a tennis ball. Dogs unfortunately have no knowledge of road safety. These are the sort of accidents that happen on a daily basis and although not the drivers fault but being aware of the dangers helps prevention.
THINKING AHEAD
Prepare for the day ahead. We all need a break from our busy schedules from time to time. This normally involves a good night out along with it generally comes alcohol. Which could still affect us the next day. It would be wise to have to have someone else drive for you the day after the night out not only is drink driving illegal but it would put your family at risk.
I have witnessed firsthand people on their daily commute to work, having breakfast, doing their makeup using their mobile phones, these are all hazards to not only to look out for, but to avoid doing yourself. We all know the use of mobile phones are illegal while driving, if you need to make an important call, then wait until you can pull over safely. If you do not this could harm your family and also involve the police and a possible disqualification, from driving.
CAR MAINTENANCE
Check the car regularly. not only to keep it for lasting for a few more years but mainly so it does not cause you or anyone else harm. Most garages have the facilities for you to check the tires, pressure checking the oil is a simple task, being able to see is crucial, if you cannot see then your windscreen wipers will need changing, checking lights and mirrors are all tasks that can be done at home. Although these checks are done during the M.O.T or the servicing of a car they still need to be done on a more regular basis. If you are not confident in doing these checks yourself then you need to go to a trained mechanic or a garage.
DEMOGRAPHICS
The quality of the road you are driving on is also important. In more rural areas the roads are generally not as good as those in surrounding towns or cities. So be aware of any pot holes or any other hazards that come with driving in the countryside, slower moving vehicles, like, tractors, farm animals running/crossing the road. If you are unfamiliar with the road you are driving on then slow down and take more care. Especially in more rural areas, the locals know the roads like the back of their hands, so they would be more likely to take more risks. If you find you yourself being tailgated, instead of driving faster stop at a safe place and let that road user pass. It is not worth not only possibly breaking the law, but could end in either a nasty crash or possibly road rage.
