Bring Your Decor Into The 21st Century

Are you tired of your decor looking drab and uninspiring? It could be time to bring it into the 21st century. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to do this, but there are various methods you can try depending on your budget that can really change the look of the place. Read on for some helpful advice anybody can utilize:

  1. Add A Ton of Greenery

Start by adding lots of plants to your home. You can literally create a concrete jungle by incorporating as many plants as you want – take a look on Instagram and you will see so many amazing spaces filled with plants! Just keep in mind a few things before you go out and buy the prettiest plants that you can find:

  • Plants will need varying amounts of sunlight, so you can’t just put them anywhere.
  • They don’t all need the same amount of water. Make sure you know how needy they are and buy a soil tester so you know how dry or damp the soil is at any given time.
  • Buy different sized plants with different leaf textures to create interest.
  • Start off with just a few if you’re not used to keeping them.
  • Remember not to let their ‘feet’ stay wet. After watering don’t keep them sat in their plant pot as the bottom will get too moist. Allow some to drain out into the sink or outside if possible.
  1. Go For Wireless Appliances Where Possible

Wires are so last century. Go for wireless appliances where you can so that everything in your home has a more streamlined feel. You won’t need to worry about trying to hide unsightly wires this way, either!

  1. Use Geometric Shapes and Patterns

Geometric shapes and patterns are endlessly fashionable. They can be mixed with other patterns, used to perk up a plain wall or space, and utilised in an abundance of other ways. Patterns are great for a maximalist type home, but they can also add texture to a more minimalistic home. Basically, you can make the most of them anywhere!

  1. Choose Your Furniture Carefully

Remember, you don’t have to buy matching sets. Looking at modern leather sofas will give your home a hint of luxury, but you can then go and find chairs you like to complete the set without having to buy the same style.

  1. Break Up Larger Areas

You can split larger areas into different places, for instance, a part of the room with a sofa and a TV, sectioned off so that there’s a table and chairs for eating or even a desk and computer. This is great for rooms that are so large you’re unsure what to do with them or how to make the most of them.

  1. Make The Most of Your Storage

Utilize your storage space. Hide away the things that you rarely use, like non-essential items. This will help you to keep the space looking as uncluttered as possible. Having interest and texture is important, but too much visual clutter is a no-go!
