For decades, Chattanooga did not have many visitors. This southern Tennessee city’s downtown area was deteriorating, and the local attractions were not enough to attract tourists from other states. However, things started looking up in the early 1990s when the Tennessee Aquarium was opened. Since then, the attractions in Chattanooga have received a facelift, and this has resulted in a significant increase in tourists seeking the best & fun things to do in Chattanooga.   

Choose an ideal time to visit.

Like most destinations, Chattanooga has the typical high and low tourist season. So, it is best to know the ideal travel period. Besides the fact that some seasons are more crowded than others, the cost will also vary. If you are looking for an alternative entry point that has more to offer, you can opt for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport which is two hours away. 

What means of transport do you expect to use?

As you prepare your Chattanooga itinerary, you need to know how you will be moving from one destination to the next. Having a car, whether it is a rental or your own car, is the ideal option, especially if you are traveling with your family. 

It is also the best option if the places you intend to visit are miles apart. For example, you will have an easier time seeing Lookout Mountain and the downtown riverfront area with a car. If you are concerned about finding parking for your can, you need not worry because there are affordable public parking areas downtown.

You can also opt to use the free electric shuttles running from the downtown area to the TN Aquarium, with stops in the various attractions within the area. This public transportation system runs every five minutes, following a set schedule all week long.
