3 Simple Rules To Keep Your Carpets In Perfect Condition

Replacing carpets is expensive, but it needs to be done every now and again. General wear and tear will cause carpets to look dull and over the years, you are likely to have a few spillages and stains. A worn out carpet can make your home look tired and uninviting, so it’s a good idea to replace them if they have seen better days.

However, you can save yourself a lot of time and money if you look after your carpets properly so they last a lot longer. Whether that be by hiring a professional, like Fresh Carpet, or by maintaining them yourself, it can give your carpets a new lease on life. Follow these simple rules and your carpets will look brand new for years to come.

Keep On Top Of Vacuuming

When dust and dirt settle in your carpets, they will degrade a lot faster. It also has a big impact on the air quality in your home because all of that dust and dirt is stored in the fibers of the carpet and released when you walk over them. So, if you want to keep your carpets in good condition, you must keep on top of the vacuuming. Ideally, you should vacuum the carpet a few times a week at the very least, but the more often you do it, the better. If you have pets, daily vacuuming is a must because the hair will quickly build up. If you hate doing housework, you should consider investing in a robot vacuum to do it for you. That way, you can make sure that carpets are vacuumed every day and you don’t need to lift a finger. It’s a great investment if you want to save yourself a lot of time and keep your carpets in good condition.

Dust With Baking Soda

Carpets and other soft furnishings in the home suck up smells and if you haven’t cleaned your carpet for a while, it can cause a musty odor in your house. The good news is, there is a simple solution to this; use baking soda. Baking soda is great for eliminating odors and cleaning your carpet. All you need to do is vacuum the carpet to remove any large bits, then sprinkle some baking soda over it and leave it for a few hours.

Consider Professional Deep Cleaning

Dusting with baking soda will keep your carpet fresh, but eventually, it does need a deep clean. There are carpet cleaning products that you can buy and use yourself, but if you want to extend the lifespan of your carpet, you should consider a professional deep clean. A professional company will have access to equipment and products that do a much better job than you can do on your own. They will get right down into the deepest fibers of the carpet and remove any dirt, so your carpets look brand new again. If you have them professionally cleaned once a year, your carpets will last so much longer before they need to be replaced.

If you neglect your carpets, they will soon need replacing. However, if you follow these simple rules, they will last for years to come.

  • Great points, but sometimes it could be worth it to replace your old carpet. My in-laws decided to do it and under the carpet discovered a beautiful hard wood floor
