How to Host Your Own Backyard Fair for Your Kids

With the recent pandemic tightening restrictions, celebrating your child’s birthday may have to be a little different this year. Many venues, such as fairs and playgrounds, are now closed, and you may even be self-isolating yourself. However, this doesn’t mean that you still can’t have a bit of fun. You just have to bring the entertainment home!

Below, we are going to discuss some tips to help you host your own backyard fair. Interested? Then let’s get started!

Set up some exciting fair games

You can’t have a fair without some games, so the first thing you want to do is set some up. While it is possible to purchase them yourself, many are easy to DIY! For instance, some soda bottles and a tennis ball make an excellent bowling game. Alongside this, by painting a clown face onto a cardboard box, you can play beanbag toss! There are so many different ideas; you just have to get a little creative. Check out these other outdoor games, which can also be a hit!

Have a prize booth

When you have fair games, you also need to have prizes! A great idea is to give out tickets that the children can redeem at a prize booth. These wholesale toys can make a great option, but you can use candy too! Just make sure you have a range of different options that are appropriate for all ages. Temporary tattoos, costume jewelry, water guns, and key chains are all affordable and fun.

Learn how to face paint

Another great activity that can be a lot of fun for the kids is to create a mini face painting booth. While you may not be able to hire a professional artist, materials are quite affordable, and there are plenty of easy designs for beginners. Check out these fun face paint ideas if you are in need of some inspiration!

Cook up some classic fair food

Funnel cakes, corn dogs, jelly doughnuts, and fairy floss. There are so many delicious types of fair food that you can easily make at home. If you don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, then that’s ok too! Caramel popcorn, candy apples, ice cream cones, and sweet corn are all super easy to make and only require a few ingredients.

Get decorating

To finish off the perfect backyard fair, the last step is to decorate. Balloons and streamers are simple and easy to hang, but if you want to get creative, try putting up some signage as well! A concession stand, ticket booth, and some posters next to each activity will really bring everything together.

Stay safe

Finally, during these difficult times, the most important thing you want to do is stay safe. Maintain social distancing, keep hand sanitizer and supplies nearby, and follow the restrictions that are set in place. This way, we can all enjoy ourselves while helping reduce the spread.

Good luck, and have fun!
