How To Plan a Staycation in San Diego

When you take some time off to explore what your own city has to offer instead of traveling somewhere new, it is called a staycation. There are many economic and safety advantages of a staycation. More than that, however, it allows you to learn more about a city that you may have lived in for years but never took the time to fully appreciate. You are lucky to live here, and if you haven’t taken advantage of its unique opportunities for fun, such as party boat rental San Diego, then it is high time you start on your staycation.

Accommodations

Part of the point of a staycation is that you stay somewhere other than your home. This allows you to see the city from a new perspective. Because you are saving money on travel, you can afford to splurge a bit on accommodations. Maybe you could book a weekend at a five-star hotel, or else find a quaint beachside bed and breakfast. A staycation is an opportunity to do things in your home city that you don’t usually do, and sleeping away certainly falls under that category.

Relaxation

A staycation is an opportunity to get away from your regular obligations. Be sure that friends, family, employers, etc. know that you will not be available for the duration. Set the same boundaries that you would if you were going away for your vacation. Then be sure to plan at least some activities that promote relaxation, whether a visit to a spa or whale watching San Diego.

Food

Your staycation gives you the opportunity to step outside your comfort zone when it comes to food. If you don’t usually eat out, now is your chance to indulge a little. If you do eat out frequently, take the opportunity to try restaurants and cuisine that you haven’t experienced before. If you’re not an adventurous eater, at least seek out new restaurants that serve the kind of food you like.

Shopping

Every city, large and small, has some quaint little boutiques that give it real character. Now is the time to explore those local shops, and you’ll feel good knowing that the money you spend in each one helps to revitalize the community itself.

Attractions

People travel from around the world to see famous San Diego attractions, such as the Zoo, Sea World, or the USS Midway Museum. You are lucky because these and other remarkable features are practically in your own backyard. Now is the time to revisit favorite attractions that you haven’t seen in a while, perhaps even trying a new activity in the process. For example, perhaps you’ve always loved watching sea lions at La Jolla Cove or the whale watching san diego, but haven’t taken the opportunity to go snorkeling before.

A staycation is not only a chance to try things you’ve never done before, such as San Diego private sailing tours. It is also an opportunity to look at the place where you live from a fresh perspective.

  • I need a staycation RIGHT now because COVID has me on lockdown. San Diego would be a great city for me to explore with all of its attractions!
