Fun Activities to do With Your Kids This Summer That Will Not Cost Much

You have probably become accustomed to entertaining your kids throughout most of lockdown, but finding creative new ways to spend time with them can be tricky at times when you run out of inspiration. Before you know it it will be the summer vacation and the kids will have time off from school, so you will want to be prepared so that they do not spend the majority of their time glued to the tv or their ipad. Here are some ideas to inspire you.

Puzzle Time

Sitting down together to do a good jigsaw could be a fun activity to do that does not involve screen time. You could get each child to work on a different section of the puzzle and see who can complete their section the quickest. This will create a bit of fun rivalry between the siblings whilst still working together as a team.

Baking Fun

Baking goodies together like cupcakes, pizza dough, bread, or cookies is a fun interactive way to spend time with your kids. They will enjoy getting involved in the baking process and getting to taste all the delicious food that is made at the end. It is a good way to get them interested in baking when you give them tasks and responsibilities to do like checking up on the bread dough. This will also keep them occupied for most of the day given the time it takes for the dough to prove.

Wildlife Watching

You could print off some images of birds or other wildlife and then go to a nearby park and see how many different varieties you come across. The first child to find all the different images that you have selected will win a treat. This could encourage the kids to get outdoors and learn a bit more about nature whilst also getting some fresh air.

Lovely Meal at a Fraction of The Price

You are going to want to go out to dinner several times throughout the summer, which will make a nice change from cooking. Searching for a QR code in advance can be quite useful if you can get some discount off the bill. After all the kids certainly do like to eat a lot so this will be kinder on your wallet in the end.

Hands On Projects

Kids enjoy doing practical things so why not create some fun science experiments at home, that will get them interacting with you and make it enjoyable. You could make your own lava lamp, create some crystals or build your own rocket. A lot of the ingredients involved will most likely be things you already have in the cupboards anyway so you will not need to buy much.
