Post-Pregnancy Organization Tips For All Mommies Out There

Having a new baby can be a whirlwind of an experience, and getting everything back on track can be quite a struggle. Post giving birth, most moms complain about how everything starts feeling disorganized to the point where it feels as though it’s impossible to sort through the mess. After all, you have a new addition to the family? It’s a monumental change.

However, having a new baby doesn’t mean that your house has to be a messy wreck, and you have to say goodbye to all forms of organization to keep things in check! Today’s post is filled with home and life organization tips for all new moms out there, so that you can finally feel like you’re in control once again.

#1. Dedicate a Drawer or Cabinet Entirely for Storing Baby Food

Baby food can easily find its way all over the house if you don’t store it in a single place where it’s easily accessible. Dedicate a cabinet or drawer for only storing food for the baby, and make sure that everyone in charge of taking care of the baby knows where it is.

Also, don’t forget to check in from time to time that you have enough baby food stocked up. You definitely wouldn’t want to run into a midnight emergency.

#2. Claim a Single Room of Your House for Your Baby

You can truly tell that there’s a toddler in the house from the way everything is scattered around, and how there’s something intended for the baby in the most unlikely corners of the house. While a certain amount of chaos is inevitable after welcoming a new baby, your whole house doesn’t have to be a mess!

Dedicate a single corner/room to your baby, and make sure that its toys, supplies, and everything else remain within that zone. Ideally, this “zone” should be around the crib, so that everything you need is at arm’s length. That way, your baby’s belongings won’t wind up scattered around your house.

#3. Make Sure Your Entire House Is Child-Proofed

Getting repairs or modifications done to your house to make it child-safe is a step that should be completed long before your baby’s due, but if you forgot about it, that’s fine! It’s never too late to get this stuff done.

As your toddler starts to grow, it’ll be hard to keep them straddled to a single room, and they’ll be exploring the whole house before you’d know it. Making sure that your house is child-safe will help you avoid any mishaps.

#4. Create a Morning Routine for Yourself

Having a baby essentially means saying goodbye to your sleep, and it’s no doubt one of the more bittersweet sides of motherhood. Of course, your sleep hours will significantly have to be reduced until your baby is old enough. However, a complete 180 from your normal lifestyle will make it difficult for you to catch up with your healthy habits when the time comes.

Try creating a morning routine that includes exercising and any other morning rituals you like following. You don’t have to follow it religiously, especially when your baby’s still very young, but try to be as regular with it as you can.

Missed working out in the morning? Try making time for it in the evening — it doesn’t really matter when you do it! As long as you do something every day (or every few days), it’ll become a habit that will be difficult to break.

#5. Get Into the Habit of Creating To-Do Lists and Shopping Lists

Forgetfulness is a common trait of new moms, but this quirky habit can lead to a lot of mishaps, emergencies, and even waste you a lot of time. Try keeping a little pocket diary and pen with yourself at all times and jot down things as they come up. That way, you’ll have a record of everything you’ll have to do so that you don’t miss anything out.

Pregnancies can be hard on your health, both mentally and physically. While personal organization can help declutter your mind, you’ll also have to remember to take good care of your health. One of the most common physical complications caused by pregnancy is pelvic floor dysfunction, and the easiest way to correct it is through pelvic floor physical therapy

Regular exercise and therapy will help your body reverse the effects of giving birth, and you’ll be able to feel good as new in no time and take on the challenges of being a mom without having anything holding you back.

Being a new mom can unquestionably be a challenging time, but it’s important to practice self-compassion during this time. You just created a little miracle, and it’s absolutely normal to feel overwhelmed. However, by being kind to yourself — and by following these five tips — you can start to embrace your new normal with finesse!
