Why Cooking Fresh is Best – Fresh vs. Frozen Food

How often have you switched fresh food to frozen food when you have been running late or just not felt like cooking? Assumingly, the answer would revolve around “many times,” which is also not quite unusual. Frozen food finds its way to our tables more than often. However, have you ever wondered what amazing difference it would make if you let go of frozen food altogether and take the extra time to prepare fresh food? 

Usually, the stores that have sections with frozen items appear to be very healthy, packed with amazing nutrients, and they also happen to be labeled as organic. Besides, frozen items also save you time and money as the only thing you have to do is to toss the packages and cartons of frozen meals into your cart, and you are all done for an entire week!

Instead of the usual long grocery haul that takes approximately an hour as you rummage through the aisles to get all ingredients, you would be all set with a 10-minutes grocery trip and a 5-minute time for cooking the meals. Typically, the enzymes are removed from the fresh food to increase their shelf life, so frozen food has fewer enzyme activities than fresh food. 

Frozen food may have more ingredients and taste than whole fresh food; however, they also contain more sodium, chemicals, flavors, gluten, and preservatives that are unhealthy for us. If you have to buy frozen food, it might be good to read through the labels carefully to know what you are eating. Besides, fresh food doesn’t contain any unhealthy fats and chemicals, which also gives you complete control over your and your family’s eating habits.
