5 Design Tips to Improve the Aesthetics of Your House

You spend most of your time in your home, so creating an aesthetic that represents you, and what you love is essential. If you love bright colors, implementing bold patterns and shades might be more your style, or maybe you prefer a more minimalistic design that looks clean and crisp. There are a few ways that you can improve the aesthetics both inside and outside of your home, from the radiator you choose to the furniture that you love, and even the look of your front door! Here are 5 design tips to improve the look of your home.

  1. Work on curb appeal

First impressions are made as soon as a visitor or potential buyer sees the outside of your home. This is what we mean by curb appeal – and it plays an important role when it comes to the aesthetics of your home. You can update and improve your property’s curb appeal in several ways, whether your garden could do with a bit of TLC, your driveway could do with a scrub, or your front door could do with a new lick of paint, taking the time to make changes to the front of your house can have a huge impact on its overall aesthetic. If you’re hoping for a change, why not add some color with potted plants and flowers, you could introduce ornaments or outdoor fairy lights – tasteful, delicate additions can give your home the boost it needs. So now we’ve thought about the outside, let’s see what we can do inside…

  1. Symmetry

You may not realize it, but symmetry is a great way to create a simple, but effective look in the home. Keeping your designs symmetrical is more pleasing to the eye and creates a layout that looks effortless. For example, if you are hanging paintings on a wall, you’re going to need to make sure that they all measure up – at the same height, and distance apart from each other. If you are adding ornaments, vases or picture frames to a sideboard or mantle piece, make sure that you match them up, one on each side. This creates a simple, chic, and tidy look within your home.

  1. Simplicity

When it comes to design, you don’t have to clutter your space to make it look good – in fact, keeping it simple works perfectly. Choose essential pieces of furniture in the color of your choice. When keeping it simple, think of pale, calm colors, like white and grey. Choose pieces that have clean lines and are functional, suited to exactly what you need them for. You should incorporate natural light into your room to give it a bright and airy feel. This design works well in any type of property – it is a modern, no-fuss approach to creating a chic interior aesthetic.

  1. Bold additions

Although simplicity looks great, it might not be your style – we all have different preferences! If you’re looking for something a little more out there, you could also choose to create a neutral color palette and add pops of color throughout the room. You could do this by adding bold cushions to your sofa or even introducing a feature wall to really make a statement. You could clash colors and prints or add colorful accents to an otherwise minimalistic room. The possibilities are endless, and you can create a room to your liking with as much, or as little color as you’d like!

  1. Clean and tidy

When it comes to creating an aesthetic in your home, there is no better way to implement it than a clean and tidy space. If you have a lot of clutter lying around, your home is likely to look a little messy. Try and get rid of anything that you don’t need. When you’ve done this, look for ways that you could store your belongings – hidden storage is always a great addition to help with the overall look of your home – think built-in shelves and space that is invisible to the eye. When everything has its place, your home is likely to look more organized and calmer – a tranquil space that you love to spend time in!
