Scandi Decor Ideas Perfect For Your Child’s Bedroom

Over the past few years, the Scandinavian décor philosophy (commonly called Scandi) has become incredibly popular in the interior decorating world. One area where Scandi décor has really taken off is children’s bedrooms, as the Scandi philosophy encourages a sense of wonder and curiosity, making it perfect for young children.

If you want to use Scandi décor in your child’s bedroom t encourage their curiosity and creativity, read on to find some excellent décor ideas you can use in your child’s bedroom to give them a Scandi-inspired childhood.

Tidy Toy Box

One of the core tenants of Scandi design is tidiness, so to give your child a Scandi bedroom you should help them learn to be tidy by providing them with tidy toy boxes. These boxes should be easy for your child to use, this will help your child learn to tidy up after themselves and help add to the minimalist feel of the space.

Soft Window Blinds

Scandi design heavily uses different textures and feelings across a space to provide a variety of sensations and encourage curiosity. Using soft window blinds like a set of made to measure Roman Blinds will allow you to introduce different textures to the room, whilst also providing a level of practicality.

Off-White Walls

As a general rule, Scandi design heavily uses white and off-white colours in the background of a room, creating a look not too dissimilar of the look of Northern European snow. White and off-white walls will brighten up your child’s bedroom and be the perfect backdrop to an engaging bedroom space.

Cosy Rugs & Blankets

As noted already, introducing new feelings and materials to a room plays heavily into the Scandi philosophy and encourages curiosity in your little one, so introducing cosy rugs, throws and blankets to your child’s bedroom will add in some decorative variety but also allow you to foster their curiosity with a variety of new sensations.

Unusual Themed Bed

When using the Scandi philosophy in a child’s bedroom, you should look to make their bed the centrepiece of the space. Having a unique bed will get them excited for bedtime every night and re-enforce that the bedroom is a space primarily for sleeping. Fun bed ideas could include bunk beds designed like log cabins, beds built like tents or even a wooden bed designed like a small Viking boat.

Uplifting Wall Art

Scandinavian children’s bedrooms are designed to inspire wonder, curiosity and imagination in the children that spend their time there. By using fun and inspiring wall art or wall stickers you can add a touch of excitement to your child’s space, while also encouraging them to be imaginative and creative.

Creative Desk

With Scandi décor focusing on encouraging independence and creativity in children, you should provide a space for your little on to be creative in their bedroom. Putting up a child desk for them and providing the supplies needed to draw, paint and create you will give your child a safe space to express themselves and explore their interests.
