Jamaica is well known as the place where reggae started, the birthplace of Bob Marley, and for its amazing white sanded beaches with turquoise water. From Kingston to Negril and all the way to Montego Bay, there are a ton of places to explore. A vacation in Jamaica is more than just relaxing on the beach.
The island is packed with an abundance of lush green areas, beautiful turquoise water, huge caverns, and exciting paths to follow.
Getting Around
There are many transportation options to get around on the island, from taxis and buses to Uber and shuttles.
By far the easiest way to get around in Jamaica is by car (renting a car, or hiring a private driver) it will be easier to explore remote places. Despite that, public transportation is relatively safe and cheap, but it will take you more time to get to places.
Also, most of the tours or expeditions will offer round-trip shuttles to wherever you go.
Explore the Beaches
Jamaica is a tropical paradise, it has a ton of white sand beach strips packed with coconut trees, palms and crystal-clear water. These are usually followed by a wide range of activities! Here are some of the best beaches in Jamaica:
Frenchman’s Cove
Often tagged as one of the top beautiful beaches on Earth, the cove is located near the Port Antonio area and is a super popular place to visit since it has been featured in a ton of movies. A small beach nestled between trees and a stream that goes to the ocean.
Compared to other beaches, like the ones found at Montego or Negril, this one is a lot calmer and less touristy.
Bloody Bay
Located in the Negril area, Bloody Bay may not have an attractive or funny name, but it’s packed with amazing beach time. You will see a lot of tourists since it’s located close to a tourist area (Resort), and you can do snorkeling or rent kayaks, do standup paddleboarding or just relax on the shallow water.
Also, if you want to explore some of the best snorkeling spots on the island, many of the cruises leave from this area.
Seven Mile Beach
Also located in the Negril area, Seven Mile Beach is one of the longest and most stunning beaches for tourists in Jamaica. This means there will be no shortage of activities on this idyllic beach, like water sports and land sports. You have the option of dining near the beach at an oceanfront restaurant, or you can just enjoy the local food from the comfort of your chair on the beach.
Aqua Solo Beach
If you’re looking for a more local feeling, head to Agua Solo Beach, it’s located on Montego Bay, and it’s a lot less popular for visitors than Doctor’s Cave Beach. Perfect for a tourist that wants a little escape from the resort feel. Despite that, you can find some small local restaurants and plenty of activities. The beach is a lot calmer which is suitable for all family members.
Adventure, Parks, and Tours
Jamaica is not only about relaxing on the beach, there are a lot of activities suitable for adventurous travelers, like the adventure parks where you can embark on an adventure filled with action. From water parks to ATV tours and many more tours and learning paths where you can do rafting, learn to surf, or go kayaking.

Head to Kool Runnings and check out the largest water attraction in Jamaica, not only that you’ll be able to enjoy many other activities like racing a go-kart or teaming up in a paintball session. If you enjoy canopy tours, Kool Runnings offers a set of ATV tours, zip lining, and rafting.
