Busy Moms Who Lose Their Cell Phones Can Stop Stressing and Focus More on the Kids

If you’re a mom who finds herself juggling a full-time job, the kids, keeping your home spic n’ span, plus leading an active social life, chances are you are always forgetting or misplacing your cell phone. Until recently, a forgotten, or lost phone was cause for a whole lot of stress and anxiety. You might have been so panicked, you called your service provider and had them lock the phone and cancel it altogether.

But in the 2020s, new technology is making it possible for you to stop forgetting your phone altogether. Now, with a simple one-time purchase, no subscription, no password or app service, you can utilize patented Advance Alert Technology that automatically lets you know when you have walked away from your phone or left it in a place that you should not have, like home when packing up the kids for school, a busy restaurant, or supermarket.

The Prox PRD is so easy to set up you can be ready to go within 30 seconds. The small device attaches to your keys, a handbag, a knapsack, and more. Its replaceable battery has a lifespan of more than a year which means you can use your PRD for years and stop worrying about losing your phone. It’s one headache you won’t have to deal with anymore.

But then, according to a recent report by Psychology Today, maybe it’s a good idea to take a cell phone break entirely. Why? Because your phone could be competing for your kid’s attention. Young kids are said to naturally be attuned to the attention their moms and dads give them. They depend on you for their security and their emotional and social development.

However, some new studies reveal that even though you are physically present as a mom, you might be overly distracted with your smartphone. That said, here are some of the study findings that might make you want to consider putting down your cell phone more often so you can focus more on the kids. Now that you no longer have to worry about forgetting or losing your phone, this should be a no-brainer.

Moms Who Use Their Cell Phones Too Much Have Less Resilient Kids

Says Developmental Science, babies and toddlers aged several months to two years were examined for their social engagement, temperament, exploration, and even post-disruption recovery and reunion. Researchers determined that the children were less inclined to explore their environment on their own when their moms were using their cell phones.

Young kids whose moms were constantly using their phones were said to be more negative and displayed less emotional resilience even after their mother put their cell phones down for a few minutes. In the end, the researchers said that, like other forms of material unresponsiveness and withdrawal, constant smartphone use on the part of moms will have a harmful impact on the social and emotional functioning of their child or children.

Kids Don’t Feel Important When Competing with a Cell Phone

Another, big international study of more than 6,000 eight- to 13-year-old kids showed that more than 30 percent of them reported feeling less important when their mom was using her cell phone not just for communication but for entertainment, such as watching TikTok reels.

The children felt especially neglected when both parents pulled out their cell phones to check their social media during mealtime. More than 50 percent of the kids said their moms use their cell phones too much.

Too Much Cell Phone Use Can Cause Problems with Your Kid’s Emotional Development

Says Psychology Today, yet one more major research study that used rats as their test subjects demonstrated the many ways moms and dads who habitually use their cell phones can harm their children’s social and emotional development. Rat pups whose mothers were constantly distracted ate less and spent less time playing and chasing after their peers than the rats whose mothers were given far fewer distractions.

In conclusion, cell phones have proven to be a wonderful invention. You can now not only call or video call your family or friends, but you have everything from thousands of books to songs at your fingertips. Social media can keep you up to date with old friends, while Instagram and TikTok reels are addictively funny and can keep you in stitches for hours.

But sometimes it’s important to give you cell phone use a break now and then and simply focus all your attention on the children. And don’t worry, if you put your phone down and forget it, you can now be alerted before you leave it behind or lose it.
