Make your Home Easier to Tidy in 8 Easy Steps

Do you feel as though your home isn’t as easy to tidy as it could be? Maybe you feel as though you want to keep up with the cleaning a bit more but you just don’t know where to start. Either way, if you follow this guide, you should find that your home is spotless in no time at all.

Look around your Home

This may sound strange but it is important. The first thing you need to do is look around your home. Take note of anything that is left out, and go from there. If something is out of place then put it back,  and if something needs throwing away then make sure you do that. If you don’t then you may find that you end up struggling to make a difference.

Make a Plan

Make a list of all the areas you would like to tackle and then work your way through. Make sure you don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to do everything at once. Take small steps and remember, ticking one thing off your list is better than not ticking anything off at all. You may be tempted to make a list of the rooms you want to sort through, but if possible, you should be more specific. Take note of the individual parts of each room, such as under the stairs, inside your console table or anywhere else of the sort. If you can do this then you are bound to see a major difference.

Sort into Piles

When sorting through your belongings, be strict with yourself. Put everything into a keep, donate or sell pile. This method is great as it will bring a lot of clarity to your home and you may find that it is easier to see the items that you both love and use.

Clean Up

If you only have a very small amount of time to get everything done, then set a timer and then prioritize each room within the home. Dedicate a period of time to each area. It may be that you leave ten minutes for the dining room and that you allow five minutes for the hallway. Either way, if you can stick some music on then this will help to motivate you quite a lot, especially if tidying up isn’t your thing.

Organize the Dishwasher

Everyone has a certain way of loading the dishwasher. One handy tip you can adopt is instead of throwing your utensils into the cutlery caddy, put them all together instead. Put all of your forks in the same place, along with your knives and spoons. If you do this then you will soon find that it is easier to unload them back into the drawer, which can be a major help.

Invest in A Cleaning Caddy

If possible, you need to invest in a cleaning caddy. Make sure that everything is easy to grab and that you can carry it from one room to the next with ease. If you can do this then you can stop yourself from running around the house, trying to find out where you left the disinfectant. Ideally, you should have one caddy for the bathroom and another for the kitchen. This will allow you to use specific products for each room, and it will also make it way more convenient for you to get those little jobs done.

Get the Right Products

If you don’t have a doormat then you may find that you are constantly dragging mud and dirt through your home. This is the last thing you need. If you have a car that has muddy wheels then you buy a mud and snow containment mat, as this will stop the water from your tyres from melting and soaking your garage floor. Little investments like this will save you from having to clean up later, so make sure that you give them some thought.

Buy All-Purpose Gadgets

If possible, you need to buy an all-purpose gadget. You need gadgets that allow you to vacuum up the stairs, and the sofa with different attachments. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to get the whole house clean without having to use multiple tools. Sure, gadgets like this may cost you a bit more but they are well worth the money, as the savings speak for themselves. Some mops come with attachments that allow them to steam curtains and upholstery as well, so keep a lookout for those.
