What to do With Your Luggage on a Paris Day Trip

Spending a day in Paris typically means cramming in the best sights. From visiting the Louvre and Eiffel Tower to strolling along the Seine, the City of Light has a lot to see and do in 24 hours. As you are rushing through traffic to your must-see destinations, the last thing you want to do is carry your luggage around.

Thankfully, there are plenty of Paris storage facilities for day travelers out there. From airports and train stations to day storage at hotels and some attractions, you can safely store your luggage while visiting the famous city. Not sure where to leave your bags? Here are a few places to help get you started.

Store Your Luggage at the Train Station

If you travel to Paris by train, the 5 primary train stations offer luggage lockers for up to 72 hours. The storage fees vary depending on the locker’s size, but all train stations charge the same amount—this way, you don’t have to waste time shopping around for the best rate.

All five stations, Gare du Nord, Gare de l’Est, Gare de Lyon, Gare Montparnasse and Gare de Marne-la-Vallée Chessy all allow you to store and retrieve your luggage from 6 am to 11 pm daily. Make sure too you get a Travel Esim so you can save the location of your luggage in case you forget and you can map out your destinations you want to check out.

Use Left Luggage Lockers at the Airport

Do you have an extended layover at Roissy Charles de Gaulle or Orly Airport? If so, take advantage of the layover and see some of Paris’s famous sites.

Both airports have banks of lockers for luggage storage, and the airports are also connected to Paris via buses and trains; both the bus stations and train depots also have lockers for left luggage.

This way, if you’re not leaving Paris by plane, you don’t have to return to the airport to pick up your luggage. The airport shuttles and express trains also run to famous attractions like the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Montmartre & Sacre-Coeur.

A quick tip for Paris day travelers: do not bring your luggage to places like museums, the Eiffel Tower, or the Place de la Bastille, as most Paris attractions have strict rules regarding carrying luggage with you. Simply put, you cannot bring your suitcases inside, and they also do not offer storage options, so make sure you leave your bags behind.

Rent a Room for a Day

Sometimes, you need a place to unwind before starting the next leg of your journey. Did you know some hotels and Airbnb rent rooms for a few hours or a day? You cannot stay overnight with a day rental, but you can relax before heading off to your next destination.

The room gives you a safe place to store your suitcases, but be prepared to pay a higher rate than for a locker at an airport or train station.

Don’t Forget About Bus Station Lockers

Buses run from the airports and train stations into the city. Bus depots also have luggage lockers you can rent for an affordable price. Using the bus depot lockers is a great idea if your travels do not mean a return trip to the airport or train station at the end of your day.

Enjoy Paris for a Day without Your Luggage

Trying to take in a city when you have luggage and other items with you can be a really daunting task to undertake. Thankfully, you have plenty of options when it comes to storing your luggage for a few hours.

From airports, bus stations, and train depots to day-rental hotel rooms, you can easily see what Paris has to offer without worrying about where to store your suitcases.
