Top Moving Tips to Stay Organized

It’s not easy to juggle a move. Whether you are moving down the road or you are switching countries, you still have a lot on your plate to get done. And that means you have to figure out a way to stay organized. With the right organization or know-how and a good notepad and pen for you to make your lists, you’ll be able to get where you need to be, but just get that started. You need to write that list.

Luckily, we’re living in a time where you don’t just need to pay your friends in beer cans and pizza to be able to move. You can hire a moving company that will even pack all your belongings for you if you don’t have the time or the energy to do it yourself. Or you need to have. In that case, with the right budget, it’s much easier to put together your relocation plan when you are organized along the way, so here are our tips for you to stay organized as you get your move sorted.

  • Download some moving apps. There are so many apps out there that can give you a hand when it comes to moving. realtor.com is an app that allows you to find an apartment or a home rental or even buy a house. ParkMobile allows you to reserve street parking if you are hiring your own car or rental truck to move your belongings. No matter what you need to do for your move, there is an app out there to help you cover it.
  • Put together a moving binder. It’s very important that you have a master moving binder to keep you together when you are moving house. You want to make sure that you only have to move once and you don’t have any hiccups along the way, and a binder allows you to keep all of your ideas and research organized in one place. Here, you should keep their numbers for utility companies, your rental, or you’re buying agency, moving receipts, any contractor bids, and even your medical and school records. Having all of this in one place is really going to help.
  • Print a checklist. If you really want to stay organized, printing off a checklist of things you need to do and having that satisfaction of taking them off along the way is a great idea. From dealing with the logistics of a moving company and having all of your packing done, to choosing the day of your move and coordinating the day from start to finish, there is a lot to tick off as you go. They’re all moving planners out there, but you can create your own customized moving checklist, and that will keep you organized.
  • Make sure you buy moving box labels. Color coding your moving boxes may not seem like a big deal, especially if it’s just you that you are moving, but it will help the movers to know which room the boxes should be going into.
