For spring break this year we racked our brains trying to find somewhere to go with kids that was affordable. We’ve never gone anywhere for spring break because it is so expensive but this year we desperately needed a break and some family bonding. I wanted warm, kid-friendly and affordable. Most people travel south for warm weather or Arizona but airfare and hotels were crazy-priced. We ended up choosing Las Vegas because it was actually do-able budget-wise!
So whether you are a gambler or not, Las Vegas has a ton to do especially with kids. Here are 10 things we tackled with our kids:
1. Driving & Digging With Real Construction Equipment at Dig This
2. Checking Out iLuminate at The Strat
3. FlyOver Las Vegas
4. Explore Red Rock Canyon
5. Visit the Hershey Store for fun treats to try out
6. Visit the M&M’s store for so many M&M’s
7. Check out dune buggy rides with Las Vegas Elite Offroad
8. Visit the Pinball Hall of Fame
9. Drive to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon – about 2.5 hours away
10. Drive to the Hover Dam – about 45 minutes away
11. See the Nate Burton Comedy Magic Show
We bought a Groupon for this but the box office said they would match the price of any deals and honestly the Groupon was a pain because you had to buy it then go to the box office and reserve seats for the show you want and hope there are tickets available still. The show is super family-friendly and amazing, I would actually go again because it was so good and he even gave out a trick for all audience members.
12. Dine at Rainforest Cafe
My son has food allergies and they were super helpful checking for him what was safe. It is pricey because its a franchise but my kids thought it was fun to eat in there.
13. Check out shopping and the FREE Fall of Atlantis show
I personally love walking around the mall and seeing all the fancy stores. Then at the end of the mall is the Fall of Atlantis show which runs regularly.
14. Swim at the hotel pool
Make sure to check pool hours before heading down as our pool opened up later than we thought and we had to wait for it to be open.
15. Zipline at Freemont Street
We did this during the day and honestly am happy because it was pretty crazy during the day that I am sure nighttime would be crazier. Depending on ages/weight you can either do half the height (sit in a swing like we did) or the full length (superman style.) Lots of street performers and free music performed on stages. We did struggle with a bathroom my kids could use since many of the casinos were adult only but found one at The Plaza hotel. We also utilized the bus which was pretty cheap to get here from the Strip.
16. Ride on the High Roller
Expensive but worth checking on Groupon for a deal, we did this at night to take in the lights but the day would fun as well!
17. Check out a sports game depending on the season
Since we are from Chicago and a hockey family, we saw a Las Vegas Golden Knights vs. Chicago Blackhawks game which happened during our trip! Even if you are not a hockey family they put on an amazing show before and during the game!
18. Walk the strip
We did this every day and explored casinos on the way for a break from the heat. It is a lot of walking especially crossing the bridges up and down and around. It is definitely crazier later at night but so much different as well with the lights and atmosphere.
19. Check out the FREE Flamingo Wildlife Habitat
We spent maybe an hour just walking the small area and watching animals. It is free and a nice break from the craziness of the strip.
20. Go see Tape Face
Seriously an amazing show and for all ages. I was in awe the whole time and actually came home and kept watching YouTube videos on him because I had never heard of him. It was pricey but so worth it!
