End of the Year Makeup tips

I just came across this in an article in a BabyTalk magazine and I thought I would share it. Everyone knows they should throw makeup away after a certain period of time, but did you know that if you keep makeup too long bacteria can cause an infection! Yuck! Believe me I am not one to part with makeup until it is completely used it because it kills me to see money thrown away but I do not want to spend that money on doctors bills because of an infection.

So here goes:

  • Mascara & liquid liner: Toss around 6 months (less if you use daily)
  • Liquid foundation: Toss around 6 months. Look for ingredients to separate or change consistency.
  • Powders: Toss between 12-18 months.
  • Eye & Lip pencils: Toss around 2 years. Sharpen your pencil liners every 2 weeks to help them stay fresh and clean.
  • Lipstick & gloss: Toss between 18-24 months or sooner if you notice a weird smell or taste.
