Myself Belts – Review and Giveaway!!! (Ends 2/16)

So now that my son is officially a 2 year old I figure I might as well start thinking about potty training. So tried putting him on the potty but getting his pants off fast enough has been a problem for us. You see my son has a very tiny waist but he is tall so I have to buy bigger size pants only for them to fall off his nonexistent butt! My grandma bought us some kids suspenders to try but they are a pain when I am trying to change his diaper since I have to be superwoman when changing his diapers since he moves so much! After the suspenders I searched for belts small enough to fit Aidan.

I was surprised at how few there were and how long it took me just to find the one that we were using; however, now that we are potty training and going to be teaching him how to pull his pants up and down himself I had to find an easy belt. Buttons and snaps can be hard and I thought I was never going to find anything until I came across the website Myself Belts.

Myself Belts is a belt that kids can fasten themselves and they look super cute! They range is sizes from XS – 7/8 (which is from ages 2-8) and comes in 22 adorable designs for your boy or girl. The Myself Belts goal is to “promote independeance and boost self esteem.” Now you are probably wondering: How does the Myself Belt work?

  • First snap the belt onto the first loop
  • Next slide the belt through all the belt loops as you would a regular belt
  • Finally Secure the belt with VELCRO

Yes this belt uses Velcro to fasten it so a child can do it themselves! Another question you may be wondering is: Why do I need this for my child?

  • Potty Training – Make it easy to get pants on and off quickly
  • Newly Potty Trained – Without a diaper the pants that once fit your child may now be too big and loose in the waist since underwear is much thinner.
  • Fast Growing Toddler – This is where I had the problem of my son being tall but thin. Sometimes a pair of pants may fit in length but still be roomy at the waist
  • Fashion Accessory – These belts come in such cute designs (and can be personalized!) that they will match or accentuate any outfit! Yes you can get your child’s name personalized on some of the belt styles. I know some mothers who coordinate their child’s outfits from their socks up to their pacifier so why not have a matching belt!

Who is behind Myself Belts? Two sisters, Talia Bahr Goldfarb, a mom and social worker, and Danielle Bahr Eason, a mom and retail industry veteran put their minds togehter and came up with Myself Belts. Since they the belts have won numerous awards, become favorites by some of your favorite celebrity moms (Sarah Jessica Parker, Cindy Crawford, Courtney Cox….), and been featured throughout magazines. You can also view a clip featuring them on the Today Show here. Slowly but surely these belts are making there ways to stores and you can check out their website to see what stores near by you carry them. Right now some Stride Rite stores, Nordstroms, and many local child boutiques carry them.

I was super thrilled when I was given a Myself Belt for my 24 month old to try out and it came just in time for his birthday party. We went to Chuck E. Cheese and he ran around for 2 hours like a madman climbing, jumping, and sliding. Usually I am picking him up every few minutes to fix his pants because the belt I did use was where you would just slide the fabric through and tighten. Well it never held tight very long so before I knew it his little butt crack was showing or his diaper was hanging out. Well with Myself Belts I did not have to worry about it once! Also, I got compliments on how cute his belt was as it had the Alphabet on it. I am definitely a Myself Belt customer for life!

Myself Belts retail for $14.50 plus shipping but right now if you buy 2 then you qualify for Free Shipping! Perfect for moms that need one for each kid or to get different styles. Also, the Myself website sells books featuring themes of growing up and becoming independent. You can then purchase a Belt and Book Gift Pack for your potty training child or a just because gift.

As a final note another great aspect of this belt is that you can purchase a larger size brown leather Myself Belt for older kids or adults who have special needs or people with hand dexterity problems. So they are not just for kids.

Buy it: You can purchase your own Myself Belt here. You can view their different styles and size chart. (Note: If your child is in between sizes, size up as belts can be made tighter but not looser.)
